This was a great experience. You sit at tables of six people with others you do not know. The menu is limited which is perfect. We ordered a mixed crab & pork dumpling and a straight crab dumpling. The mixed was 30 RMB & the crab was $99 RMB. Chicken was sold out. For me the mixed was tastier than the straight crab. The experience was perfect. We will return 100% and get the mixed and chicken.

Of course Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao in Yu Garden is still the most famous one, but you always need to queue up for like more than 30 min. Jia Jia was the place i always had Xiao Long Bao after school when i was young. It won't disappoint you and the price is reasonable. Din Tai Fung serves good quality of Xiao Long Bao, but it's not what Shanghainese have in their daily life, Jia Jia is the one.

We tried the original pork version, as well as the pork+crab one. All three of us thought that the pork one was nicer.

It's nice and cheap!

Advice: Don't overeat, so you can go across the road to try the fried dumpling at Xiao yang sheng jian :)

The RMB15 pork dumpling (tray of 12's) was a little above average vs Din Tai Fung's and not really a clear winner of the dumpling challenge in Shanghai. The real winner was the RMB30 pork + crab dumpling for a tray of 12's. The special juice was out of this world the moment we took the first bite of it. It was different from the pork dumpling juice and it was worth to die for. We went there 3 times in 7 days and we ordered 2-3 trays each time. Do not miss this awesomeness when visiting Shanghai. Exit 8 of People Square Metro Station, walk straight behind Park Hotel, cross a small road and continue straight for 20 metres. Look for the red sign board in Chinese on the right. At the opposite side is Yang's Dumpling Red sign board in English.
