This hotel is a mixed bag but the end result is not good. Good location, new or freshly renovated, clean. But they put us in Tower II where service of all type -- room service, housekeeping -- is sparse and slow. Internet is my biggest complaint. They charge, which is ok, and only have broadband, no wifi. Worse, they only allow one user per room per stay. So with my partner, we shared a room, but for the duration of the stay, only she could get on internet -- my computer and iPad could not get on. Called to complain but to no avail.

I recommend finding another hotel even if the roommate is higher. You'll end up saving money.

Room Tip: Make sure they don't put you in Tower II

We sincerely apologize for the experience during the stay at our hotel. We appreciate your complaint about the service, and we will arrange more training to help our staff increase service conscious and service skills.
The hotel has offered free WIFI around whole hotel since January 1st 2012, but if the customer choose to use broadband in room, we need to charge, each room only allows one computer psssword. If the customer get problem about internet, they are welcome to ask our IT department for help.
At last, we are so appreciate you choose our hotel and took the time to submit valuable advice to us, we attach weight to every customers' comments and improve ourself consistantly.

Just like the other rview --- "Staff at front desk unfriendly: no 'welcome' or 'thank you' or 'have a good trip'" The Staff at breakfast are not trained well at all. They are young and not so helpful. The hotel is at a very good location and the hotel condition is a O.K.

Traveled through Shanghai on a recent business trip and stayed at this property for two nights. The hotel is in a nice area, close to Jiaotong University and the French Concession district. The area around the hotel is very nice with shops and restaurants located nearby. Cabs are easily available in and around the hotel to get to other parts of the Shanghai or the airports, so transportation wise, this is a conveniently located hotel. The property itself seems to be an older property with dated decor. A little below par for what I would have expected of a Crown Plaza. The staff is professional and efficient and gets the job done. My room, located on a higher floor, overlooked a row of apartments, so the view was nothing to crow about. My room was on the smaller side for a Crown Plaza. The space constraint also translated to the bathroom which appeared a bit dated. Other than the cramped space, the room furnishings were generally clean and functional. The room itself was quiet and I enjoyed a good night's sleep on both days that I was there. Didn't visit any of the onsite restaurants, so I cannot comment on the quality of the food or service. All in all, a decent experience. However, I was expecting a little bit more because of the Crowne Plaza brand.

Due to last minute booking, I didnt have much options. So went with this hotel, and as expected, it was just OK. The rooms give a view of skyscrapers of Shanghai, but are very basic in nature. Service is also just ok. Had to wait for long to get checked in. There will not be stewards around to take your luggage to your room, if they are heavy. The complimentary buffet is like any other chinese hotel, but is very crowded. You will have to wait for 15 mins to get a seat. That too, you have to rush else someone else will take it :)The restaurant staff hardly know any english, so communicating with them becomes a problem.
Overall, looking at the price paid its a good stay, but if seen alone, its strictly OK

This is a very nice hotel with comfortable beds and all amenities. I stayed here a total of 9 nights on 2 trips in July and September of 2011.
The buffet restaurant has a good breakfast selection for American, European, and Asian guests.
Wifi service is excellent. In a nice area downtown with shops and restauranst nearby
