We visited the First Foodhall on Nanjing Road twice during a recent trip to Shanghai and we had dinner at Old Shanghai Snack Dishes both times. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly although they did not speak much English. The picture menu made ordering very easy as you just write the corresponding number on a little piece of paper at the table and hand it to the waitress. Highly recommend the deep fried spicy pork and the dumplings in peanut sauce. The noodle and rice bowl dishes were very good too. Very reasonable prices made for a great meal as we left stuffed with leftovers both times after paying about 150 RMB for each visit.

We have enjoyed the Food Halls in China for our lunches and found them to be very clean. Most have pictures of the food and English descriptions and the staff are very happy to help you. We had a couple of noodle dishes freshly made in front of us by an older gentleman in a full chefs attire which was very tasty and cheap at around $5 Aud.

We enjoyed all of the sights and smells of the 4 floor foodhall. This is a grocery store and food court all in one. They feature amazing meats, local foods, wine, and anything else you can imagine!

We unashamedly wandered every level, sightseeing the colourful array of fresh, preserved, uncooked and cooked food stuffs. Great place for gifts and supplies of fresh fruit. There are lovely dining options on the upper levels including a branch of the famous nan xiang steamed bun restaurant and a McDonald's. A must-see when in Shanghai.
