The main reason I give this chain a 4 is that they are breaking into the mid-range market with some legitimate quality. They are not a 168, or Hanting...they are a new kind of middle. They have cleanliness, quality, and even style....and decent beds that westerners would find comfortable.

The downside? Not enough English speaking for a truly global hotel, and the breakfast is fantastic if you are Chinese, but there are serious options lacking if you are a foreigner.

This particular Yitel is obviously a remodel from a former hotel...which I believe all of their hotels are. But the rooms are all very unique. We actually got into a loft, which was really cool. If it had had another comfy chair on the first floor it would have been ideal. However, they are catering to the business client.

The other tacky part of this hotel that you would not find in a quality place is that as we were walking to our room, there were "Women of the Night" calling cards laying on the floor in front of each doorway. There is no excuse for this at this level. The hotel has to know about this and put a stop to it. You must have a card to access the rooms, so somehow they are getting access. We fought the other Yitel in Zhangjiang over this, and they put a stop to it. This will drag down the quality of the hotel very quickly.

Better enjoy this place while it is still good.

Room tip: check into the loft rooms...really cool
