I enjoyed today really fresh and well done meal, at the brunch time, at Haiku by Hatsune. Their portion of pile of beef slices was tender and balanced. Nigiri and maki portions classical and tasty as well. Service was quick enough and personnel were smiling, which is always important. I'll come again.

Haiku is the best place to enjoy the sushi rolls, very creative and yummy, only problem same as the others -pricey and the service is too quick.
But in general we liked the place and come back soon.

We have dined at both the IFC Mall branch, located on the outside near the Apple Store, as well as this one, and we somehow prefer this as it is housed in a charming building within the Former French Concession and is located just a couple of doors from sister restaurant, Kagen, a teppanyaki joint which we also frequent.

They have salads and meat skewers, as well as sushi and sashimi, but most come for the rolls. Do ask about their specials, which include a sushi roll and a beer for around 80 rmb. Our usual include california, which has a good helping of avocado and crabsticks; salmon dynamite roll, which packs a spicy punch; and pimp my roll, which features soft shelled crab, avocado and salmon bits. Ala carte prices can be steep (pimp my roll is around 110 rmb each), but at least they do not swamp their rolls in brown sauce like many other eateries do.

Service is usually quick and friendly. After your meal, you should take a walk around the neighbourhood and check in at a couple of bars/eateries such as Sashas and Shanghai Brewery.
