My wife and I had a wonderful evening and breakfast at this Ecolodge. Given our concern for the Costa Rican environment, we were very pleased with the focus on sustainability at this EcoLodge. The rooms were pleasant and comfortable. You are largely immersed in the forest, but it is completely accessible. The small on-site cafe where we ate breakfast was charming and we had a pleasant chat with the owner and with another couple enjoying a tasty, local breakfast of fruits, generous amounts of toast, and scrambled eggs. The freshly squeezed juices and the sliced local fruits were delicious. We would certainly return here. Our room also had bunk beds so it would be great for a couple with two smaller children. We arrived from the airport very late because of delays and the owners kindly met us at the gate of the hotel at quite a late hour and where very welcoming.

Room Tip: Sustainable, beautiful grounds, semi-rustic.

We arrived in mid afternoon after travelling, and immediately felt the peace, and the kind and considerate welcome from our host, Nadine. A great breakfast with lots of fresh tropical fruit and good coffee, and so much to enjoy in the garden, and a restful very clean room and veranda. Nadine was unforgettably generous with her time, helping us to enjoy the area, a visit to Volcan Poas, a coffee finca, etc.
Evening meals are not nearby - an excellent one at Zandari hotel, though not cheap, and two typical Costa Rican ones at Nadine' suggestion. Recommend this strongly.

One of the most charming EcoLodges I have ever stayed in! Highly recommend this place for the following reasons:
1. It's an oasis of calm and beauty, 20 minute drive from the airport. Gorgeous garden and well appointed bungalows that offer guests a tranquil setting.
2. Bungalows are spacious, beautifully designed and beds are very comfortable. Washroom is large, and also well designed and decorated.
3. The owner, Nadine, is a gracious hostess that makes guests feel very welcome. She is also a great source of information!
4. Breakfast on the terrace is beautiful, plentiful, fresh and delicious. We had an early flight to catch on our final day and Nadine prepared a prettily arranged breakfast plate for us the evening before.

Tip: if you enjoy hiking, there is a coffee plantation with trails very near.

I highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again.

It was like our own little world. Nice room and bathroom but it was the private patio and yard that made it like it's own little world. Very nice breakfast. Only negative was no wash clothes. Very safe and quiet. Great first night in country.

Average at best. We had the cabin farthest from the main house. There were several things not up to par. The first being the room was very dusty/dirty. There were cobwebs all over the ceiling fan and bugs in the light fixture. I know it's Costa Rica and bugs are expected (and work fast to make cobwebs) but when we got back from breakfast (gone 20 minutes) the ceiling fan was still encrusted with cobwebs. There was not attempt to clean it and spiders don't work quite that fast. Second, the bed was very uncomfortable. They attempted to make a king out of two twins beds. The problem is that left two very hard corners in the middle of the bed that felt almost like metal rods. All night long my husband and I had to switch places and trade off the discomfort if we wanted to sleep snuggling, as we like to do. Third, the room is not secure. The sliding glass doors do not lock properly. We would try them before we left and they would seem secure, but on return we could open them without unlocking them. The lock must slip open over time. Fourth, the room was loud. We were the farthest from the street and you could hear street bikes and traffic all through the night. The birds chirping is expected but this street noise is not. Lastly, Costa Rica is a relatively no smoking society. It is banned almost everywhere in public, but the innkeeper at Tacacori felt it was appropriate to smoke in the breakfast area.

Now for the good things. The surrounding are very lovely, the staff is very knowledgable and friendly and the breakfast is quite good. Moreover, there is a very sweet dog on site and a funny parrot named Lorita, who will occasionally speak her name for you.

We were there for two nights and I'm really glad it wasn't longer. It was average for that time, but I would not book it again.

This small eco compound enroute to the Doka Coffee estate and outside of downtown Alajuela is a beautiful haven. Back to nature! You will have to be on your own for dinner and there is no TV. Breakfast is wonderful and your hosts Nadine and Juliette are wonderful.

Really lovely place - feels like staying in a botanic gardens.

The only place in Costa Rica we stayed in that had a coffee maker with proper coffee in the bedroom !

The first time you arrive, you need to give them a call when you're at the entrance gate, so they can let you in. After that, you get a buzzer of your own to use.

Beds were very comfortable. Nice to have a terrace from the bedroom.

Bathroom was a very good size, and great shower.

The Zandari resort next door is a great option for dinner.

They don't accept cards, so if you need cash I think you need to head towards Alajuela - I went to the Automercado on the outskirts, which was a fun little trip in itself.

Everything was very clean.

Definitely recommend.
