Great Hotel with easy access to Airport

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Mar 23, 2024via mobile
This was by far the nicest Fairfield Inn that I’ve ever stayed at (and I’m lifetime Titanium). I arrived at 9PM, and I was able to get the shuttle with no problem. They do a trip every 30 minutes so it’s pretty easy. The breakfast was really good, but aren’t all hotel breakfasts so much better outside of the US? I would totally recommend a stay here if you have an early departure or later arrival. Staff was great, very friendly. And as an added bonus, there is a Walmart steps away (you don’t have to cross major roads or anything like that) to pick up anything you may have forgotten. I will definitely stay here again when I come back.

We stayed at this hotel before catching an early am flight back to the US. The word is clearly out on this hotel as it was very full. It’s a newer property and the rooms are very clean and modern. The shuttle was convenient but get down there early to get a seat. The traffic around the airport is terrible so plan accordingly during the day. They packed us a snack to take to the airport and the breakfast starts at 530am. This is a great choice for a hotel near the airport.

Room tip: Traffic is terrible during the day due to construction

Stayed 2 nights at the beginning of our trip before taking a domestic flight to Drake bay and 1 night at the end returning from Puerto Jimenez and flying back home the next morning.

Very easy shuttle ride from/to the airport every half hour. Very recent hotel, clean and comfortable rooms. Shower works great.

They have only queen beds (would have preferred king : some of the slightly larger rooms could have accomodated a king bed, but they are all queens).

What is missing is an electrical outlet on the right side of the bed. There is only one on the left and on the right, it is too far from the nightstand to be usable.

Did a day trip to Irazu and orosi valley one of the days and they pick up directly at the hotel.

Breakfast starts at 5:30, great for early flights.

We ate dinner twice, ok to good food, convenient,

There a a couple of restaurants in front in the mini mall and a big walmart just besides the hotel, easy walk.

Would use again if need an overnight near airport in San Jose!

Close to airport, clean and staff were excellent. The only complaint I have is that the water was lukewarm and disappointing after wanting a hot shower after a long day. We ate at the restaurant and it was okay but pricey.

We would stay there again and would recommend to friends and family.

The Fairfield Inn by Marriot is next door to the Marriot Residence inn just a short ride from the airport. There is a free shuttle that runs every 15 to 30 minutes from the airport to the hotel. The roads are still small in San Jose so it takes about 15 minutes to get to the airport from the hotel even though it is only about 3km away as the crow flies.

The rooms are well appointed with good air conditioning. The hotel appears to be relatively new and has modern furnishings. We stayed there two separate nights after arriving and before departing San Jose. The breakfast buffet was very good, much better than Fairfield Inns in the United States.

There are three restaurants across the street facing the hotel if you don't want to eat at the hotel restaurant. The large City Mall is also a 10 minute walk from the hotel with lots of shops and a food court.

Room tip: The shuttles from Fairfield Inn run every 15 to 30 minutes and stop at the Courtyard by Marriott next door.

My spouse and I stayed here the first night of our trip. The staff was exceptional, a higher quality than at similar hotels in the United States. They changed $20 into local currency for us at a fair rate, which was super helpful because the ATM at the airport was out of money. The breakfast was a cut above too. Great tres leche cake at dinner as well. There are a couple of restaurants right across the street, easy to walk to. The only downside - we arrived after dark and the parking is in the back of the hotel. There was a sketchy looking guy hanging about who made us a bit nervous. He opened the door to the hotel for us and did not bother us, but it was a bit nerve wracking.
