When I searched for a Hotel near to San Jose I found Xandari what impressed me was the contemporary art and gardens combined. I have to say the experience of walking the numerous paths lined with exotic flowers and plants transported me to the islands of Hawaii. This is what you will experience....When you arrive you smell the sweet scent of Jasmine. The villa we stayed in #18 was beautiful with beautiful unique curved wood ceilings and amazing stained glass windows the villa was very spacious with a separate living room. The shower was beautiful with its glass wall looking out to our own private garden. The bed was very nice and comfortable. Our meals were 5 star. Don’t miss the Apple Pie with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. Breakfast was included with our stay and consisted of cereal, tropical fruits, yogurt, fresh juice, homemade breads, homemade jam and amazing granola bars, hard boiled eggs fresh from their nearby farm. What a great way to start the day. When I travel to Costa Rica I plan to include Xandari in my travel itinerary. Amazing!!!

This was a lovely respite for two weary travellers who wanted to recover from the flight, jet lag, immigration lag and road rage lag. From the moment the gates opened we were transported to a wonderful oasis of calm and comfort. We loved the view from both the room and restaurant which showed San Jose with a backdrop of mountains. The food was excellent if a little expensive - watch out for the additional taxes which amount to 23%. Staff were amazing as was our villa which was very comfortable and clean. The beds were especially a joy as I have a bad back and a cheap bed will leave me like Quasimodo in the morning. We had 2 nights and we're sorry to leave. For everything that mattered to us this was perfect. I loved the fresh fruit and home made granola bars for breakfast and the coffee was excellent. Lovely place to stay.

The hotel was our first stop after arriving in Costa Rica. The rooms were spacious and had a beautiful view. Twin beds was a tad strange but after a long flight not an issue!
Breakfast was disappointing as it was extra for hot food.
Superb grounds with long walks. Shame it was so wet.

Thank you for your comments, all our rooms have include our extended continental breakfast which has: three different kind of fresh fruit juices including kale super food drink, four different types of fresh fruits, plain yogurt, hearty granola and corn flakes with milk, fresh baked artisan white bread and wholewheat bread, muffins, banana cake, granola bars, hard boiled eggs, chicken ham, beef ham, fresh cheese, cheddar cheese, tomato slides, homemade jams and butter, coffee or tea. All our breads and cakes are prepared in-house. Our idea is to provide a healthy first start and any additional it will have a cost according to a la carte specialities.

We look forward to having you back at Xandari.

Pura vida!

The arrival is lacking in that there is one small desk to sit at directly in the entrance so very cramped, the rooms are very spacious. The view is stunning and the walks to the waterfalls definitely worth doing both trails. The breakfast is disappointing in that although the continental breakfast is 'complimentary' we had booked bed and breakfast and found we had to pay for anything else, white or brown sliced bread, 2 types of cheese and 2 types of sliced meat , fruit and cake was not great, we opted for breakfast burritos which were so good just a shame you have to pay extra, our travel company imagine travel should have highlighted that
