I stayed here with my husband for our honeymoon. Very close to nature and quite private having our own cabin. I was worried that bugs would get in but it absolutely wasn't a problem. They were very helpful in helping us book different trips. Also, their a/c is fantastic.

This place was perfect! Located 5 minutes from the town of La Fortuna and close to all the activities that take place at Arenal lake/volcano. The breakfast was the best we had in all of Costa Rica. It's fresh and home cooked at a little house across the street. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Also it was not crowded or touristy at all. I wished we had stayed an extra night here before heading to the beach.

First time to Costa Rica on a mother- daughter trip. Rented our own car and drove right from the airport to La Fortuna. By the time we made it is was dark and we were not sure of or actual location. Check in process was easy and informative. The hotel has a lot of charm and great to have your own little casita, super clean and airconditioning. To our surprise as I opened the door the next morning our view was an incredible view of the Arenal Volcano. Don't miss breakfast across the street, part of the hotel and the ladies are so sweet and made us feel at home. We are looking forward to visiting again. Great location and amazing value.

A little gem of a place! There's about 8 cabins, all beautifully maintained and the gardens are very well cared for. We loved lying in the hammock watching the hummingbirds fly around our back porch! There's a safe, hairdryer, 2 queen beds, a fridge, a drip coffee machine and a tv, the front porch is great and you can borrow umbrellas.

The owner and all his staff were so friendly and always smiling! Loved how the room service ladies always made a cool little animal out of the bath towels. The rooms were also clean and big free! The air conditioning was a bonus and very necessary.

For the price we paid this was a bargain, however breakfast is not included. the cerro azul charges $7 usd per person/per night if you want breakfast. This was disappointing as all the other places we stayed in Costa Rica were the same price or cheaper with b'fast included. It was convenient so we chose to pay.

You don't need a car if you stay here, however the walk into town (about 30 minutes) is a bit far in the heat and/or at night. We caught a taxi every day which was $4 one way/$8 return, they were very quick and always available. Not a big deal but make sure you consider this if budgeting. It was actually lovely to sleep peacefully with no noises!

Taxi to the waterfall was $8 (all up hill) and we walked back (down hill) for about 45 mins. Taxi to arenal volcano national park is $30 one way (very expensive!)

The hotel offered us discount if we booked tours and paid cash to them which was fantastic and easy, I would recommend you organise everything through them.

A very well run hotel and would be happy to stay here again and recommend to others.

4 out of 5 because b'fast isn't included, and it's a tad far out of town for walking, no restaurants nearby for a quick eat.

Dear Guest,

Greetings from Rancho Cerro Azul Hotel

WOW!!!!! :) We are so much happy to read this review and thank you very much for your feedback.

It is fabolous to read the great characteristics you described the Cabins, we try to add at the room the necessary things to have a comfortbale stay. Thank you for the good words about our staff, we love to help people organizing their activities and calling the taxis they need. For sure, they will be very happy to read you comment.

A big applause for the cleaning staff, because they are great making different animals with the towels.

About our breakfast, we do not include it on the rate of the room, because we prefer that our guest have the freedom to decide if they want to take the breakfast with us or not.

We understand our guests, for that we try to help them giving discount when they have to pay, because it can be helpful on their vacations.

Thank you for recommend us to other people.

It has been an absolute pleasure having you with us and we hope to welcome you back in the near future.

Best Regards,
Rancho Cerro Azul Family

I loved this place! The cabin was perfect for my boyfriend and I, it was spacious, with a nice bathroom, beautiful front and back deck. I could live on the back deck in that hammock, it was so peaceful. We went during rainy season in May, which basically meant the mornings were beautiful and by late afternoon you'd have a shower pass through- but spending the time on the porch in the rain showers was one of my favorite parts. It literally sounded like the apps on your phone you use to put you asleep, 'rainforest rain'. There were hummingbirds everywhere and the horses on the property were beautiful. You could take a hike out back to the Fortuna River. We were able to hike up the road to La Fortuna Waterfall- we enjoyed the hike, but be warned there are some very steep hills on the way, I wouldn't do it on a hot day. The town was a short drive away with some great restaurants. By far one of my favorite things from the whole trip was breakfast. It was so, so good. The coffee was amazing and I loved everything about it. Definitely go for the breakfast. All the staff were so nice! Roy helped us the most, he was great. Will definitely recommend to friends and stay there again if we get the chance!

Dear Kirstin

Greetings from Rancho Cerro Azul Hotel

WOW!!! What a nice review! We are pleased to read that you and your boyfriend had a great time when you visited our hotel in May.

We are agree with you about the porch of the Cabin. It is the best part of the day, you can rest and to forget everything. We do not have to download the App, we just have the App naturally, almost everyday :) :)

The humming birds and the horses belong at our property, they are part of our family, and it is great that you really appreciated.

Good recommendations for the hike to La Fortuna Waterfall, the best it is to go up by car or taxi. Because, if is a hot day will be very tired.

What a good words for the breakfast. We offer typical and american breakfast for our customers. Also, Roy sends a very deep appreciation for having mentioned him, he say thank you.

Thank you for recommend us with your friends

It would be great to have you back with us and many thanks for sharing your experience.

Kind regards,
Rancho Cerro Azul Family

My family (my mother and I and my two kids, 14 and 8) stayed here 5/29-6/1. I seriously did not want to leave when the time came. Besides being nestled in a quiet piece of rainforest near the Arenal, the family who runs the place does it with a lot of love and care. Special thanks to Roy who was friendly and so very helpful during our stay. Don't miss the breakfast. It was so yummy and a great way to start any morning. The canon itself was quaint and just what I was looking for. The porch and hammock and beautiful grounds made me feel like I had no worries in the world. My son loved the river in the back and took a quick dip. Ride into town was $4 and they arrive very quickly after being called. My mother really enjoyed the serenity of this location and I share her sentiments. If I'm in the area I will stay here no doubt.

What a lovely review! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We love to receive families, because we are a family too and we want to give the feeling that your in home. You were really part of our family.

We will definitely say to Roy your message. We are sure that he will be very happy. Thanks for the recommendation of the breakfast. Our mother (Lorena), who is the person in charge to make the breakfast everyday will be very proud for the good comments.

We are agree with you, the best part of the day is when you are in the hammock of the porch just listening the different sounds that the nature offers, it is amazing and good for our body and our mind.

A big applause for your son. He is very brave, the river is very cold. But, we are sure that he will never forget this wonderfull experience.

Our happiness is huge to know that you really enjoyed and could rest in our property

We would love to serve you again in the near future. From every member of our family send greetings for you, your mother and your two kids. A big hug for you and them.
