“Excellent Stay Here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay here recently. The bungalows are very tranquille, clean and lovely. Really enjoyed the wood inside and all the furniture too. We had a lovely view. Unfortunately the volcano was socked in when we were there but everything else was terrific!. The restaurant was excellent with tasty varied meals and very attentive servers.Cannot think of anything negative about this place at all. We came with a tour and really enjoyed this choice.

The hotel is composed of private wooden cabins, all well set apart from each other, in lush and well manicured gardens, For me a bit too manicured, but that's me being picky I suppose, but 'parterre' hedges each side of the path to every front door, seemed a bit out of place. It's good value, the lodges are spacious and well fitted, with large bathrooms and private terraces. The main reception, bar, restaurant, and swimming pool are all very good. The Volcano makes a dramatic backdrop to the site, which is a welcome retreat from the very Tourist area around Fortuna town.

Room Tip: Lodges on the higher side of the site can sometimes pick up the music noise from Fortuna...Its fair...

Really enjoyed my stay here, it's very easy access and i had the perfect view of the volcano from my room witch was super clean and the bed very comfortable. The dining room is huge, they had two large groups that night so it was very loud but the food is good, a little expensive but good, we show up for breakfast after those groups departure and it was perfect, we sat by the garden, looking at the volcano, again. Service is very professional, from front desk to dining room. La Fortuna is not a charming town so finding ourselves at Lomas del Volcan was a little heaven.

We enjoyed our lovely, clean cabin at Lomas del Volcan. We were able to enjoy the beautiful landscaping and gardens from our back porch. We also saw huge Paba birds walking on the property. We were literally on the slopes of the volcano, so we had gorgeous views. The infinity pool was breathtaking to look at with the volcano in the background. Our breakfast in the outdoor dining room was a full buffet with eggs made to your order. The flat screen TV with several English channels even allowed us to watch the Super Bowl! The hotel and grounds are just beautiful, and we would stay there again.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms have a great view, so it is hard to choose a bad one.

Only through a mis-booking and confusion caused by our booking agency, Latin Destinations, did we end up at Lomas and I am SOOOOO glad we did. The private cabinas are perfectly appointed and give you a sense of solitude. We stayed in the cabina closest to the volcano - I think it was 515, and we had a completely unobstructed view of Arenal. It was like we were camping there on the mountain. It was quiet and the staff was great.

Hotel Lomas del Volcan has magnificent gardens and lovely, clean cabins with individual porches, viewing the Volcano. It is absolutely a picturesque setting. The breakfasts are quite extensive, including pancakes, omelette, all types of fruit served in a large dining room. The hotel is elegant. We highly recommend the HOtel Lomas Del Vocan.

Room Tip: All the cabins have a similar design. All of the cabins view the volcano. You can't go wrong o...

During my journey i stayed 2 nights at that great hotel! I can only say positive things about that hotel.
First you have the great location on the hills of the volcano Arenal.
Secondly, the bungalows are big, beautiful and tastefully equipped. The bathroom is also very big and light. Our bungalow offered 2 terraces, one of them with a great view to the volcano (which unfortunately was always covered with clouds).
We were also very pleased about the breakfast-buffet and the waiters serving tea or coffee. At the buffet everybody was able to find something.
The garden with its flowers and birds was also wonderful!
I also loved the swimming pool in the garden with the little waterfall.
We were also able to book a lot of tours to some attractions the region has to offer - unfortunately a little bit expensive.
I have to add two little negative things (in my opinion): The shower always turned rapidly to very hot which hurt a little bit. And when you stay at that hotel you have no proximity to civilization, because from the town with a lot of restaurants, travel-agencies and shops, there's a 1 km taxi-drive up to the hotel. So you can only depend on the hotel! But for 2 nights it was worth it not to have a connection to the city! ;)
