“Beautiful setting”
Reviewed 20 April 2012

We stayed here as part of a Caravan Tour. The property is absolutely beautiful and the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Our room (402) had a stunning view of the volcano. We expected to see a beautiful lava flow at night only to find out the volcano has been inactive for the past 16 months so now it's just another mountain. Oh well nature does that some times.

The food (buffet) was very good (eggs cooked to order for breakfast and pasta to order in the evening). There is a small bar to quench your thirst at days end. You may have trouble getting a drink if the bartender is watching a soccer game on TV.

The property is about 2 - 3 miles from town so if you don't have a car you must get a taxi for $5.

I would recommend this place to friends and would stay here again.

Room Tip: Since the volcano is now inactive any room is going to be just fine. Obviously some rooms are close...

Almost everything about this hotel was great, and the view was absolutely amazing. They have a trail on site that leads through a section of beautiful forest. The staff was helpful and spoke English very well. The rooms were very, very clean. We had a wonderful time. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here as part of our organised tour, the staff we're very helpful and the place is in a lovely location.
Our log cabin had very close views of the volcano and was very spacious with our own terrace.
The restaurant was good, we had a la carte diner which was very nice, the breakfasts we're buffet style and again very good.
The pool was nice, with a water fountain but cold, and the hot tub was out of order.
We organised a kayaking tour of the lake from the hotel, which was a highlight of our trip, we had our own personal tour guide kayake with us around the lake, he was very knowledgable of the history and flora and fauna of the area.

One of the most beautiful settings I have ever stayed in. I wasn't ready to leave this place. Travelled to Costa Rica with my 2 daughters over spring break with Caravan Tours. Caravan always delivers more than your money's worth in every aspect.

Room Tip: All rooms are separate cabins, located in a lovely jungle-like atmosphere with beautiful landscaping...

After travelling based in part on reviews, I wanted to add my own after an amazing trip to CR.
This was our first hotel and we loved it!
The cabins with front and back balcony were great, enjoyed the coffee maker, the flat screen tv, the restaurant as amenities.
The pool and hottub were also enjoyable.
But mostly, the grounds were so wonderfully kept and the idea of having our own little spot overlooking the volcano was amazing. Also I was worried about not having the active side of the volcano...turns out it really does not make a difference and this side was more beautiful to look at....(you can visit the active side by seeing the park).
We would recommend this hotel very much as well as checking out the Tabacon springs and the Arenal park. Only downside is cab to the park is 25 bucks each way...which was more expensive than cabs throughout the city.

Room Tip: Ask for an end cabin...ours at 503 was top notch!!

Stayed here last August, and loved it. Want to go back and spend a week here. The cabin was very spacious, and clean. Had a great view of Arenal out of the back of the cabin. The food was very good, staff was very helpful and friendly, pool area was very nice. Woke up to the sound of howler monkeys in the morning. Also, saw Toucans in the trees. Really loved it!

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms are good as the way they are located, every cabin has a view of Arenal.

With a great view of the Arenal Volcano, this resort is on a beautiful hill. Birds in the area include green parrots and toucan. Nice outside pool. Meals served buffet style were good. Bar was cozy with views of bullflighting on TV. Beautiful view from a small back porch.

Room Tip: If you have difficulty walking up and down hills ask for room near the lobby and restaurant.
