We booked a room for 6 in the Finca. The first night was rough. A bit too warm, no Wifi in the "casita". But morning came. With the rooster calling and a great breakfast. Lunch was delicious too. Reina is a great cook! Don juan and his spouse are very nice people and they did all they could to make us feel comfortable. After two nights we had to leave and I have to admit that it was hard. This is not a hotel with lobby and amenities. Bring your bug spray and be ready to sit outside looking at the animals around. A piece of paradise!

This was an alternative to the zip wire experience and it proved to be excellent. The entrance fee was $35 US each and straight away we received a warm welcome with coffee and oxen cart rides. Our young guide then took the group through the coffee growing process from young nursery plants to the finished coffee product passing various processing sheds en route. Then to our surprise he explained how cacao beans were processed to produce chocolate. His English was good and it was a 'Hands on' experience with making and tasting. Back in the reception area there was more coffee and a shop where the newly ground beans were a fair price and they smelt delicious.

The Don Juan Organic Farm is a fascinating place to visit. The tour was very informative and I saw plants that I had never seen before. They grow a wide variety of crops which are served in their dining room. You know that their delicious food is fresh because you helped to pick it yourself.

I was here a few years ago. Don Juan, the owner and operator is a retired Principal in school. His love of teaching continued when he founded this place and wanted to share his knowledge and passion of nature and education.
He welcomes “Volunteers” to help in the farm and learn about agriculture. When I came here the first time, he actually had volunteers working who showed us the farming, raising cows, pigs, growing yuccas and flowers and making fermented alcohol (45%) from sugar cane.
The tour includes lunch where you eat fresh vegetables grown in their garden, yucca chips also from the garden and tilapia from their ponds.
This is very educational, entertaining and down to earth.
TA asks of this place is good for dinner. I would imagine they will be close by then. Yes, I recommend.

It is unusual to eat self-picked products in one's restaurant meal; here spinach, gathered in course of our intriguing & active tour of the organic estate, was transferred to the kitchen/added to a salad. Equally fresh were fish fillets, fried before our eyes &
home grown organic vegetables.Excellent coffee, by then, had come to be expected.

All in all, the very reasonably priced tour/lunch package proved the best value item in our Costa Rican experience.
