“Beautiful grounds”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2012

We spent two nights here with a Gate 1 tour. The room had a microwave & fridge. I really liked the walk-in shower. The towels were a little frayed but soft & white. The grounds are beautifully maintained. We didn't use the pool but it looked very clean.
We only had breakfast in the restaurant which was basic & hot. The staff were very helpful and spoke English well.
Our main problems were the sporadic free wifi and the hotel is located too far from town to walk. Our room had a musty odor upon entering and was set up to turn all power to the room off when you left the room, so every time we returned had to tolerate the smell until it cleared.

Thank you for comment, it is our pleasure to serve you! We are very happy that you had enjoyed our rooms, restaurant and grounds. We also want to thank you for addressing things that did not meet your expectations. We take every suggestion in consideration so we can improve on a daily basis. We do apologize for any inconvenience that you might have with the wi fi going off in the rooms, we do however have two computers available in the front desk and another wi fi network as well.
Regarding distance to town, we are only 1.8 miles away from La Fortuna downtown, that is a lot closer than many other hotels (besides the ones in town actually) and a cab ride is only $3-4 dollars.
La Fortuna is a very humid place, and we have constant rains which give us a lot of issues with musty odors, we try really hard to use our dehumidifier and open the windows when possible, so we are very sorry about the musty smell.
Like you mentioned we work with an energy saving system that goes hand to hand with our green philosophy and part of the sustainable certification program that we are part of. So every time you leave the room the power goes off to try to save energy and care about the environment. Once again we do apologize for the issue but it's very difficult to deal with specially in a humid rainy area like Arenal.
We do hope to see you again very soon!

Spent two nights, beautiful views of Arenal. Nice clean rooms, and be sure to ask to stay on the second floor for the best views, room A4 specifically! We visited the volcano viewing area, Tabacon hot prings, Monteverde hanging bridges rain forest walk, and the Sky tram and zip line. Loved it all. Weather was perfect for viewing Arenal and saw her spewing gasses from the active cone. Hotel was very quiet and peaceful. Grounds were lovely. Saw lots or birds, including a nesting hummingbird with two eggs in her tiny little nest. Heard lots of frogs, but without our guide I only found 2 leopard frogs. The food at the restaurant was good. I also went for a 70 minute message that was wonderful and in a beautiful open natural setting listening to the sounds of the birds and the river that ran just beyond the spa.

Room Tip: Ask for room A4, or at least a second floor room so you have your own balcony, with a perfect view o...

This hotel was beautiful from the rooms to the pool. We did not experience the spa. We spent our time during the day out and about. They booked a trip to Cano Negro for me which included transportation and that was great as well. The service at the front desk was excellent! The only thing that kept me from giving the hotel an 'excellent' overall rating was the restaurant. The free breakfast was the usual and was good, but the lunch/dinner menu was not so great. There was a limited menu and I think they could improve here. The room was clean, spacious and includes a good sized balcony. I recommend staying on the 2nd (top) floor of a bungalow. You will have a great view of the volcano which is impressive even though it is currently 'sleeping'.

Room Tip: Buildings start at "A". These are located directly behind the restaurant so the closer to...

We have spent 5 nights in the casa luna hotel. We had a great time. Staff is really there for you, the rooms and the entire terrain is very clean and the restaurant served fine food. And the view is breathtaking, the Arenal is really close! There is also a lot to do in the area. If you do not have a car, staff will arrange a taxi for you in no time. We really liked this place!

Room Tip: Each room has a great view at the Arenal.

We just returned from a week in Costa Rica, beginning our 2-night stay at the Casa Luna. The staff was helpful and the restaurant had good food. Our only gripe was that if we wanted to get a taste of the local flare, it would require a cab ride instead of walking. Therefore, once we were back in the hotel from our daily excursion, we were there to stay.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quaint charm and peaceful beauty of Casa Luna. The staff was helpful and polite and the location was close to the cute little town of La Fortuna. A great place to stay for both a relaxing, spa like atmosphere, or if you like being a little closer to action, adventure, and nightlife.

Room Tip: Every room has a gorgeous view of the volcano...when it's clear, at least!

This hotel is nothing special. It is however a very nice place to stay. The pool is very secluded and was often quiet making for an almost private pool. The front desk staff is very helpful both with suggesting ideas and addressing any concerns you may have while you staying there.
The rooms are nice but not top notch. They are rather small and our room did not have a closet, only a small chest of drawers. We did not spend much time in the room however, so this made any shortcomings bearable as we were usually out exploring the area. This hotel is walk-able from downtown, but it is a long walk. Taxis are only about 2 USD however.
