Excellent guide/driver Rodman; but the tour was not as good as expected. We saw far fewer numbers of animals/birds than anticipated. Perhaps it’s the time of year, but we didn’t get to see the Jabiru Stork, parrots or Macaws, and all birds were in fairly small numbers.

While our time on the river was very short, and we didn’t go very far down river, we did see several crocodiles, Proboscis bats, great blue, boat billed, yellow crowned heron and little blue herons, a white-faced capuchin monkey, and several large green iguanas.

We also saw a Northern Tamandua on the road.

We also visited a local pottery demonstration, and watched the “Sandmen” of Costa Rica who dredge sand out of the Rio Tempisque, and transport it via oxcart to be processed and used all over the country in cement-making.

On the way, we stopped at a family-run restaurant for juice (delicious, fresh pineapple), coffee and a biscuit, and then back again after the boat tour, for lunch, which was plentiful, but not special. The people were very gracious and friendly, and they have nice, clean facilities, and a small gift shop.

All in all, this was a pleasant way to spend the day, but it seemed a bit costly for what we saw. Some other people at our hotel had booked the same tour with a different tour company (alas, I didn’t get the name), and had raved about the food, and had been taken to an island where the Jabiru storks are (which was our main reason for wanting to go). Maybe each tour company uses different concessions.

Thank Nancy K

We spent the day with Yves - Costour in early January visiting a ecological finca where we saw sloths (up close) red eye frogs and awesome Costa Rica nature while taking about an hour walk around the area, it really is something to see and experience.

After wards we took a short drive to Tenorio National Park where we hiked up through the mountain to reach the Celeste Water falls, the falls are an incredible aqua blue in colour. Well worth the roughly half hour hike up. (Yves, thank you for your patience...lol) yes we were a little slow getting back down.

On the way back we stopped at a local roadside restaurant, the food was just terrific, I have to say I understand why Yves and his Costour company is so highly rated he runs a great operation is very patient, willing to move the plan around to suit his customers wishes not rushed at all and very insightful, you get the sense that he has a real passion for what he is doing.

When we are back we will certainly be reaching out to Costour to enjoy different adventures

Merci Yves...... Tom, Laura

Fabulous tour company! Pepito (the owner) and Alejandro (our guide) were both amazing. We learned so much and they made our trip very memorable. They showed us so many interesting cultural spots along the road, in addition to our boat tour along the river. We loved it and highly recommend this company for all sorts of tours.

As first-timers to Costa Rica, we decided to book the One Day Adventure through Costours based on the great reviews on Trip Advisor. They lived up to their reputation!!! As a party of six, we were expecting others to be on the tour with us, but we had our own private guide, Rudman, the whole day. He was terrific from beginning to end, taking care of us every step of the way. Picked up promptly at our resort at 7AM, and we off to Hacienda Guachipelin to start the day with horseback riding (OK, but could have been more scenic) followed by river tubing (a scary but terrific time was had by all!). We had a very nice lunch at the Hacienda after tubing. Then we did the Canopy tour (also a little scary, but a great first time experience). Rudman then took us to the Hot Springs, which were a great way to relax after a busy day. Thanks again to Rudman and Yves for a great day. We highly recommend Costour and will certainly book our tours through them on our next trip to Costa Rica!

Thank-you Yves (Pepito) and Costour Staff!! You all made our trip to Costa Rica one fabulous trip! I wish we could have booked more so we will have to come back!

Our favourite trip as a family was the One Day Adventure. What an experience! Once we made it through this trip we were psyched at what we saw and what we did. My son is 10 years old (just) and he did it all with us. (check out the mud bath picture)

We also all did the ATV Tour (my son rode with Dad), Rafting on the Corobici River and the Cortes Waterfalls Tour. All tours I would highly recommend to experience the culture, get in on sight seeing and have some action packed fun!

Yves started working with me as soon as we booked our flights and accommodation. First we organized transportation to and from the airport and then my husband and I struggled with which tours to pick. But, the decision came quickly as I e-mailed back and forth with Yves to determine what would be the best tours for our family.

I would like to suggest a tour company such as Costour as it is more personalized. They stayed with us on most trips and joined in on the action when they could. This helped to answer our questions we had on culture, types of plants/animals that we would see, etc....
With Costour driving us to and from the tours they were also able to point things out along the way and with just a few of us in the vehicle, it was easy to take in lots of info as well as pull over for a picture or 2! They also listened to my constant requests for temp adjustments in the car (too cold, to hot:)).
This trip was awesome and I see why everyone refers to Costa Rica as Paradise!
