Owner description: Almaco's private customized boat tours are a great way to experience Costa Rica from the ocean’s point of view. For almost a decade we have been designing dynamic tours for small groups and families who want a little bit of everything while out on the water. We offer snorkeling, sport fishing, scuba diving (and instruction), surf trips (and instruction), standup paddling, wakeboard, waterski, inner tube, subwings, and hydrophones, on our morning and sunset tours, and unforgettable full day beach barbeque tours with delicious gourmet food.

Our family of four spent a half day on the Almaco with Leo and Michi. We mainly wanted to snorkel and although it was a windy afternoon Michi and Leo found a cove for us, and Leo identified fish for us and advised about rocky areas to avoid, making sure we were all safe. We visited a mangrove and saw tons of fish, parrots and even a crocodile. Wrapped up with stand up paddle boarding and refreshments. The service was exceptional. This was our favorite activity in Costa Rica!

We found this company through Diego, who is a photographer we booked through the Four Seasons. Owen and his crew were amazing! We brought Diego along as well for his photography skills as well as lessons (Diego- also amazing opportunity to learn some photography!) The crew on our boat went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. They were fun, spoke fluent english and really took care of us beyond our expectations. While three of us dove, 5 went snorkeling. Mid day we had an AMAZING beach BBQ that was prepared for us on a small beach away from the resort. Fresh fish, lobster and chicken were served along with yummy dips and dessert. The kids then went tubing and had the time of their lives! They said it was "the best tubing ever". We really enjoyed our day adventure with this crew and will book through them next time we're back! I HIGHLY recommend them for whatever water adventure it is you desire... fishing, snorkeling, diving, SUP, subwing, tubing, etc. Our family (5adults, 3kids) had an amazing time and would recommend
them to anyone! Thank you Owen, Diego and crew!

Our group was 5 couples. planned this vacation together. we rented the boat Nai'a. it was easily big enough for our group.

Smooth ride. Chipopa was awesome. whats great about this boat is that we chose what we wanted to do in the moment. The were fully equiped. We didn't want to dive. Also, it ended up being a windy day. So they drove us a little further to a protected cove. Along the way we saw many dolphins and sea turtles. We snorkeled, rode tubes (they get as crazy as you want!!). We fished (caught a bunch of red snapper). We tried a "subwing" basically you get pulled behind the boat slowling by a rope and hold on to this wing. it lets you glide and dip under the water. we could touch the sea floor and see all of the stingrays below. It was hard to explain. look it up. They took us to the private beach where we hung out and relaxed. Lunch was perfect. They took us to a cave where we got great pictures.
We were concerned that the weather was going to ruin the experience. these guys are pro. they adapted and it made all the difference. We looked back and couldn't have asked for a better day.

While I love reading other folks reviews, I rarely post one myself. But after our day on the Almaco boat Nai'a, I've made an exception.

Staying at the Four Seasons (another review-worthy post) for President's week, we booked a day out with Almaco on a two tank dive with my two teenage daughters and my wife who does not dive. Owen, Allan and Chipo (aka Diablo) picked us up at 9am sharp at the hotel and proceeded to take us out to a couple of great dive sites. It was my girl's first open water dive and I was really impressed with how much time Owen (our dive master) spent with the girls making sure they were prepared for those dives. The fact that they actually asked for our PADI cards and formally documented the dives gives you an idea of how professional they were. My wife stayed on the boat and read as Allan tried (non-successfully) to catch fish.

After the dives, they took us to a secluded beach (only one other group there) for lunch. Wonderful lunch right there on the beach under the trees. After lunch, we spent some time wandering the beach and swam a bit. The really cool thing about these guys is they literally will let you do whatever you want once your done with your dives. Paddle board, fish, tube, swim, etc. Whatever you are feeling at the time, they bend over backwards to accommodate. As an example, they made a last minute suggestion to head over to Coco Beach, as we had not explored outside the resort. Owen literally walked us around town showing us the sites, told us where to shop and where to buy some coffee. That was unexpected but much appreciated.

After Coco Beach, we cruised (very slowly I might add) back to the hotel blasting music from my iphone (Bluetooth on the boat) the entire way.

A whole day trip is not cheap, but if you are looking for a real bucket list sort of day, I cannot recommend these guys enough and look forward to joining them again in the future!

Pura Vida!

My wife and I spent 1/2 day (9 am to 2 pm) with a great crew and a clean, nice boat. We saw dolphins jumping, turtles swimming, caught a Tuna, snorkeled and then went and had lunch at a beach side restaurant.

Captain Mitch and Guide Owen were friendly and open to do whatever we wanted to do. The refreshments and snacks were aplenty and fresh so the overall experience was fantastic.

5-Star experience!
