We were at rip jack inn for my sons wedding. and worked with their representatine Ann. she was wonderful and very helpful, I had rented the bungalow with two bed and sofa bed to share with my teenage daughter and my son, The restaurant service was great and the food was exceptional. I will visit the place again. However!?

First day we arrived late in the afternoon on Sat., air condition was not working , Faucet would not drain well, toilet was running continuously. When I complained, they came to fix it but no result. The next day I complain they sent someone to plug in the air! and refunded the charges for that night. but somewhere along the way the individual mentioned that during hot season they turn down the water heater. so we all took cold showers untl the last day. my son jumped in the shower announcing: may be for once I can have hot shower since I get in before the teenager. We responded we have been taking cold shower too! Later on I asked other guests if they had hot water, and I found out all rooms had hot water except ours. The person that had met me the first day knew about it and was trying to lower my expectation regarding the hot showers!.

So I will go back to the rip jack inn again, but this time I will ask them to check the a/c, toilets and faucets, and hot water availability prior to releasing the key to the guest. especially if I will be staying in the Bungalow!

Room Tip: Watch out fora/c unit and cold water in newly renovated shower in the bungalow!

Dear Shahin, thank your for your honest review about your stay. First of all we would like to apologize for the inconveniences with your room. It is definitely not our standard to have guests stay in rooms without a working A/C or cold water. Please be assured that we usually have those problems addressed as quickly as possible. Sometimes, issues like this cannot be approached right away, due to the room being occupied. We would not want to cause any more inconveniences. As you can see, it is a fine line considering all parties. Last but not least, thank you for your compliments about our restaurant and the food. We will make sure to pass this on to the kitchen crew. Again, we appreciate your feedback and hope to meet you again - hopefully this time with an overall positive stay. Pura vida!

It was our first time in Costa Rica so it's a bit difficult to compare with other hotels in this country. But i've traveled enough in my life to know that when you mix together a fantastic location (50m from the best beach and surf), an always smiling group of very professional people and very decent prices (we paid approx. 75$ a night), well, the RipJack Inn well deserves a 5-start rating.

Our room was large and clean with comfortable beds, the pool is super nice - even though we haven't used it because of the so-close and so-nice beach - and the meals that we had at the hotel's restaurant was for sure the best we had during our trip to Costa Rica but better than anything else we had while traveling to Central America. Kudos to the chef and his team !

And last but certainly not least, the staff: Thank you Jeannette for being such a great host, always smiling, always there to help with surf lessons or any other request we had. And thank you to all the team at the restaurant and a special mention to Erick for the fantastic service and recommendations, you all made us feel special !

We highly recommend the RipJack Inn and will be back for sure ! It's peaceful, perfectly located and well priced for what you get.

Room Tip: Have the DLX rooms, they're farther from the restaurant and bar and therefore much more quiet.

For anyone looking to do a wedding in Costa Rica, the RipJack was great for us. Annie acted as a pseudo wedding planner helped us organize things from afar. The venue was the perfect mix of being low-key and sophisticated. The food was awesome. And the location is perfect.

I could easily retire here, and I strongly recommend it for a relaxed, comfortable, and beautifully quaint hotel along the coast of Costa Rica.

Firstly thanks to jeannette who was very welcoming!
For the price(90$ without breakfast it's expensive for Costa Rica) the standard rooms are under kitchen and bar so it was very noisy. Especially the firstr night because there were à wedding over our heads:(
However the room is smart and cosy

Dear Juli, merci beaucoup for your review. We regret hearing that you had a disappointing experience. Due to the wedding during the first night of your stay, the noise level was higher than usual. If we had informed you prior to your arrival, you might have been prepared. We apologize for the inconvenience this might have caused. However, we are also happy to hear that you felt welcomed and in good hands by our employees. We would love for you to come back and try one of our other rooms to feel the difference and make your disappointing experience to a great memory! Again thank you for your honest opinion and bonne journee. Pura Vida!

We were browsing for places to stay in tamarindo and playa grande and came across ripjackinn. We were not interested in any place which is in the middle of the town but more of close to nature sort of a deal and ripjack inn is the right place.
we were driving from la fortuna to playa grande and had some difficulty finding the place initially but were able to figure it out with ease.
The owner of this place and the people at the bar/restaurant are very friendly. The food is delicious and very reasonable.
We had some issues with our room wifi and were not able to connect to the internet at all, after talking to the owner he was kind enough to get us another room with better wifi signal the following day.
It is a 30 min walk from tamarindo downtown and 5 mins walk to beach for turtle nesting.

Dear Soumya, thank you for your time to write us a review. We are happy to hear that you liked the RipJack Inn. Our standard rooms, the category you booked, do not come with wifi access. There is wifi in our restaurant, however, due to a private function you were not able to use it. We are sorry for the difficulty this might have caused and we are glad you liked the room we upgraded you to due to the inconvenience. Thank you again for your nice words. Pura Vida!

We loved the rip jack inn so much that we didn't want to leave. We stayed a little over two weeks and were, sometimes, the only couple in the whole inn. It was very relaxing during the rainy season. Playa Grande is an absolute gem. Can't wait to go back and have breakfast at the Rip Jack before/after surfing. The trail leading to the beach is only a few steps from the entrance of the Rip Jack. You will not be disappointed if you're looking to stay in a nice place, close to the beach for a great price. Pura Vida!

Thank you so much for this wonderful review and the 5-star ranking!! We love that you loved it! Rainy season is very quiet and there are some travelers that come to Playa Grande during those months and are disappointed by the lack of activity. We are glad you enjoyed the tranquility and having the beach for yourself. Most of all, we are happy to see that you loved what the RipJack has to offer, rainy season or not - perfect location, comfortable accommodation, outstanding food & great service. See you next time! Pura Vida

A stones throw from a big beautiful beach. You can see Tamarindo beach from Playa Grande but its a million miles away in terms of not being constantly harassed by sellers( at least during low season). The hotel itself is very nice, we also got upgraded to a gorgeous suite because of the lack of guests. Breakfast is not included and very expensive, it is tasty but most dishes are small. You don't really have many options around the area unless you have a car. The dinner is also high quality but again very pricey! This is a shame because if it was better value during low season they would have alot more customers, this is my opinion and alot of the surfers I met on the beach. The staff are great but they just sit in the bar talking to each other because they have nothing to do because the prices scare people toward the better value street restaurants of tamarindo. Other than this I highly recommend ripjack if you want a few days relaxing on the beach and playing in the waves.

Thank you for your review. Especially in low season when very few people are around, we appreciate guests taking the time to share their honest feedback and we are happy to see that your overall experience at the RipJack Inn was good. We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the price-quality value at our restaurant. It is very important to us to offer high quality food and great service, regardless of which season and we see that you acknowledged this as well. Cost plus quality equals value, however affordable cost plus quality equals great value. And we are striving for great! Thank you again for your feedback and be assured that we take it seriously and will improve on that! Pura Vida!
