“Incredible!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2012

We lucked out on this hotel. It was our first time to Costa Rica and we blindly booked at the Pasatiempo. Yes, very lucky we were! Everyone that works there is amazing. Everyone pretty much speaks English if you can't speak Spanish. You definitely want to be there for the party on Wednesday. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I highly recommend!!!

We so enjoyed our stay at Hotel Pasatiempo in Tamarindo! Nestled in the middle of town is this little paradise with luscious landscaping and nice pool surrounded by 20 bungalows. Right in the middle is a very nice restaurand run by french chef Vincent and wife Chantel. The owners Sean and Helene were always on site and exceptionally helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Wednesday at the open air restaurant is music night, great jams! Loved the location within walking distance of everything. (Especially enjoyed the company of Sally and Timmy!)

This hotel is the best in Tamarindo and the owners Sean and Helene are wonderful. We felt like family and their staff goes above and beyond anything you can imagine when it comes to service. Rooms are all newly remodeled, beautiful, super clean, hot hot hot water, TV ( if that's your Vaca scene) and AC. Nice little private rooms and pool right in the senter thats crystal clear and perfect break from the beach. Maid service was fantastic and honest. The bar and restaurant ( called Ttiki) run by chef Vincent and beautiful bartender Chantal was so delicious and again, amazing service. Wednesday is party night and tons of fun. Live band, open mic and lots of locals that are such fun. Please stay here if you visit Tamarindo, you will absolutely love it.!! We will always come back to PasaTiempo!!

Room Tip: They all rock!!

This is really by far the nicest place we have been to in Costa Rica - and totally worth the money (99$ + tax / per night). It appears to me that the really nice places in Costa Rica are actually not run by Ticos, but by Expats (in this case French & American) - why is that?

The rooms are really newly renovated, with flatscreen TV, AC, nice and comfy beds (with really new linens and all), and a big, clean bath. The atmosphere in the whole place is very nice, as is the pool. The staff and especially the (new) owners Sean & Helene are very nice, genuinely friendly and really helpful.

The breakfast included was continental and self-service, which was not a great selection or anything, but perfectly fine.

Fortunately, this Hotel is located a little bit away from the noisy main road - so you can sleep quietly at night, but you still walk only about 6 minutes to the beach.

I have been traveling to Costa Rica for years and just by chance my friend and I decided to stay here a few nights. The lodgings were some of the nicest I have ever stayed in while in C.R. Great pool, clean environment, and I felt like my possessions were safe and secure when I was out of the room. The two owners who run the place (Shawn and Hellen) are fantastic people and were really the main reason why I chose to stay longer than originally planned. Wednesday night is open mic night and people come out of the woodwork to play with the band and sing. This place rocks and I will absolutely be returning. A little pricer than other choices in town, but priced reasonably for what it is. A very nice, comfortable place to crash. Worth every penny.

Room Tip: During busier seasons book in advance because rooms do fill up fast.

Hotel Pasatiempo, such an awesome place. Sean and Helen were very nice and gracious hosts. The rooms were clean and neat. The bed was comfortable. Hot water available if needed. The pool was nice to have although we didnt get to use it much since we went to the beach a lot. They also have free breakfast - toast, cereal, coffee and fruits. Wifi available. Unfortunately it didnt work in the rooms but you can certainly lay out by the pool and get WIFI. The hotel is close to everything ~ beach, bars, restaurants and grocery store.
If you are looking for a place to stay in Tamarindo, Hotel Pasatiempo is definitely the place to go. Pura Vida!!

Just returned from a 12 night stay at this hotel. Very pleased with the hotel room, grounds, pool and restaurant/bar. Was in room # 6 toward the back of the property. Very quiet back there which was much needed for some R and R. Wednesday night is the night to stay up and enjoy the band that plays till 12:30. Other than that, I was able to go to bed early and have a very quiet sleep. Nice restaurant. When you place your order the chef personally comes out and asks you how you would like your food cooked. Nice personal attention there! Jose and Raul were great drivers!
I really liked the grounds. You could tell that a lot of attention and TLC has been given to make the hotel environment very pleasant and clean. Would return! Next time I will rent my own car as I feel more confident in my ability to get around!

Room Tip: rooms toward the back of the property may be quieter.
