I arrived to Sel et Sucre by lucky accident and could not wish for a better place to stay in Puerto Viejo. It is a very cozy place with friendly staff that made me feel like home instantly. And having a hot shower after two months in Central America was a real treat!
The restaurant wasn't open at that time so I guess, I'll have to come back some day to try it. :)

We were a bit unsure when we first arrived as it seemed more like a share house than a hostel. After some time we enjoyed it, friendly people, Sebastian is really helpful and the location is quiet and close to supermarkets, bank, laundry & short walk to the main strip. Bike rental was easy, the kitchen has everything you need but gets crowded so cook late. We stayed in a private and the walls were paper thin, but other than that comfortable. This is for the laid back traveller who doesn’t mind a bit of music, chatting to other travellers and roughing it a little bit.

Great value. Great travel Vibe and next to really good main strip. Bikes available to rent from the hostel. See stevieexplores on Instagram for more photos of this place and the surrounding areas, we took bikes along 5 beaches in one day. Stunning roads and beautiful scenery, with chocolate farms and Jaguar sanctuaries along the way! Just follow the way to the National Park!

Sebastien, friendly owner.
The place is very well situated, you are in the center of everything (bank, grocery store, beach, restaurants).
You can rent a bike as well.

Kitchen is available for use !
