Nice staff, good morning breakfast and the location is great. We rented bikes ($10 a day - which is double of what they charge at other close-by hotels, we discovered) and drove to the village a few times and to the national park 15km the opposite direction. As the room was facing the road, it was rather noisy though

This hotel is located very close to one of the top three most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. Our bungalow was beautiful, clean, with air conditioning. You feel you are in the middle of nature. There are beautiful paths to each individual bungalow, a great walk anytime of the day. The property is big, kids can run around, nice pool. Breakfast was great, we did not eat lunch or dinner there, we went into town for that. I would definitely stay there again, the price was reasonable.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cariblue. Our bungalow (212) was rustic but very comfortable. It was also tucked away in the back of the property which allowed us privacy and was super quiet. We never heard a peep from anyone and we hope no one could hear us either (we were travelling with a 15 month old)!

All of the staff were friendly and accommodating. The pool unfortunately was closed for maintenance, but we spent most of our time at the beautiful beaches anyways which was great! The town of Puerto Viejo was awesome with plenty to eat and drink, so we only had breakfasts at the hotel (which were fresh and tasty). We rented a car for our time in Costa Rica so the 15 minute drive into town was never an issue, and we appreciated having the security guard at the hotel driveway so we felt very safe and comfortable within the property.

All in all I found Cariblue to be a comfortable and very family friendly place to stay. Would definitely recommend one of their bungalows here!

It was dark and we were tired when we arrived and check in was slow, so not a good start. Guided to our bungalow by a guy with a torch but no offer to help with luggage. Pool still open so we went in search of pool towels - they don't have them - "use room towels and we will replace them". Went out for a walk instead. its a 25 min walk along a very dark and fairly busy road with no real footpath, still Puerto Viejo town is nice with many restaurants and bars with good prices. A taxi cost $4. getting one to come and pick us was another matter.
Our bungalow was comfortable and air con effective. Bathroom clean and well equipped.
Breakfast was another thing - crockery chipped - cloths dirty - food okay with fresh cooked eggs and pancakes but coffee from flash not great.
The grounds of the hotel were immaculate but not the main buildings including the pool which needed a clean. the pool bar was never manned so we asked at at the main bar for drinks for the pool and were given a cardboard coffee cup for beer!
I get this area is undeveloped but make the best of what you have and train your staff.

Checked in for 3 nights on a B & B basis. Welcoming staff and the hotel is in a lovely jungly location. Spotted the green poison dart frog but no sloths.

Restaurant is very expensive for both food and wine so eat in the local town. Try Koki Beach or Cafe Viejo.

To say the hotel is basic is an understatement with creaky beds, taps that don't work and basic towels. Looks clean but feels otherwise. Don't get me on the paper thin toilet paper. Just really not value for money at all. Avoid.
