On the advice of a local, went to this well-hidden gem right next to the Super Cocles supermarket. (It is on the Puerto Viejo side of the supermarket, versus the Manzillo side.) I needed to pick up some take-out pizza, and the restaurant made us a great pizza. The owner is Argentinian and I noticed that the restaurant was serving what appeared to be great steak dishes.

The staff was nice, and the atmosphere is fine, but we were underwhelmed with the food. The pizza, and specifically the crust missed the mark for us. We had some fantastic pizza in the area but it didn't happen for us here.

This is a cool little place that has an off-the-beaten-path feel. Our family was tired and had a late lunch, so the Pizza was perfect. I'd love to try some of their Argentinian influenced dishes next time, but it was a lovely place to sit and feel like guests of the house for a light dinner and great glass of the house red wine.

We went for dinner a couple of nights ago, DEC/30th. The place is a quaint Caribbean beach house in the middle of a well manicured lawn, it's really something!

The beach is not necessarily the kind of place you associate with beef (it's more of a fresh seafood setting, I guess), but the food... OOOOH MAN, the food!! We ordered a mixed grill for two. The chicken was juicy and tender, the beef was perfect in taste and term, the pork was very nicely done, and the Argentinian chorizos were superb!

This place is HIGHLY recommended if you're looking for a place to eat in Puerto Viejo.

After hearing about this place for a long time, we (two couples) decided to check it out. The place is really charming, exudes the feel of a little cafe someone else in the world. The bread and carrot puree spread were delicious, the wine selection and prices are fair, the service is good.
We ordered as a group, and because we had heard about huge portions, we shared the grill combo. Plenty of food, A LOT of food (meat) with chicken, sausage, more sausage, beef, pork. Comes with a shareable salad, kind of lacking, but fresh. We also ordered a side dish of tomato and guacamole, but it never came. We ordered the beef medium rare. It was closer to medium, just barely a bit of pink. The rest were also overcooked, the sausage was actually crunchy to bite, the pork tough, and the chicken too dry.
Because we care, and only because we wanted to be helpful, we told the waiter. Who in turn went and got the two owners, very nice people who obviously wanted to make us happy by offering us more food. We really were full having loaded up on the delicious bread (and wine), but we wanted them to know the meat was really too done. Instead of accepting that, they tried and tried to convince us that meat needed to be cooked as such to kill the parasites... now I don't know about you, but 1) I've cooked a few chickens in my day, and 2) you really never want to hear that your food has parasites... sure you might know it on some level, but having it sitting there in front of you is not really the time for this information.
