If you are wanting the very best of fauna and flora in CR in the most beautiful setting El Romanso has it.
We first were lucky enough to visit CR in 2014 and loved ELRomanso so much we had to return. It is simply heaven.
Complete privacy in which ever accomodation you choose wonderful food attentive friendly helpful staff.
The setting is to die for. The best nature locations are always the most remote. Its worth every penny to make the effort
We came for a second visit all the way from New Zealand in our 70s it was as perfect second time around as the first and the bird watching is amazing.

It was the first time we stayed at an eco lodge, and it was exceptional. There were so many highlights... the guided walk with Carolina, the bird watching with Marlon, sitting on our balcony watching Scarlett Macaws and Toucans.Hiking down to the beach etc. The eco friendly environment was very well organised (meals were super) the lodges with mesh windows worked fine (a lot of noises throughout the night but all part of the experience). For us it was the highlight of the trip as we truly left the real world behind (no wifi, no tv, no phone in rooms) and we got to see the things Costa Rica are famous for - Toucans, Scarlet Macaws, Dart Frogs, Coati, howler monkeys, spider monkey, squirrel monkeys, leaf cutting ants! etc.. We had one issue with a leaking room on the night of an unbelievable storm... but management were very efficient in ensuring it didn't spoil our stay. Lovely to relax in the pool after a hike and we also enjoyed the very simple yet lovely Casa Ponienta rooms (top floor) overlooking the pool and the pacific. Three days was not enough, wish we had an extra two or three days more!

Room Tip: the Casa Ponienta rooms overlooking the pool are superb as the Toucans, Scarlett Macaws and monkeys love the trees near the pool!

Our experience at El Remanso began with the excellent help provided by Cindy for our reservation process and was followed by 4 nights and 5 days of being immersed in the wilderness and the lap of luxury all at the same time. The lodge is remotely located yet the dining experience was that of a 5 star resort! The staff simply could not have been any nicer - they all worked tirelessly at learning our names and calling us by our names for the whole visit! If you have the luxury of the private villa with the pool - treat yourself! Waking every morning to the cacophony of birds and howler monkeys and the view of the ocean was amazing! The activities were all led by knowledgeable guides and we saw numerous birds, wild life and fauna! The setting is intimate and you end up meeting other guests as you refresh at the pool and meet for meals!

Room Tip: The villa overlooking the jungle and the ocean with your own private pool is amazing!

Eco lodges set in the forest overlooking the Pacific. They contain a large very comfortable bed and large ceiling fan with inside and outside showers. All windows are mesh screened to keep out insects and no mosquitos in this location. The open sided restaurant is overlooking the gardens and all meals were superb. The staff were polite, friendly and very helpful including the owners who make an effort to speak to all guests.
The wildlife at the hotel includes 2 species of monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, hummingbirds and many others. The small swimming pool is relaxing and warm with sun loungers on one side. This is a paradise to relax and admire the wildlife. There is a wonderful long path downhill to the beach and another 15 min walk to the warm rock pools. It is so quiet and peaceful you feel like being on your own paradise island.
The weather was very hot but dry with temperatures reaching 35c

Room Tip: Individual detached lodges but choose one closest to the restaurant unless you like walking

This property is beautifully embedded in a dense forrest but still offers great views over the pacific. Flora and fauna are rich on the property grounds and the tours offer even more with many birds we have not found comparison in Costa Rica on our three week trip. Everything is very personal with all staff knowing your name and big smiles responding to any possible request. Food is excellent. The villas are spacious and seem relatively new or possibly very well maintained. It‘s part of the concept not having heavy electricity using equipment such as air condition as everything is based on green energy. Wifi is only available at the reception. There is a fan in the room which provided enough cool air for us. It‘s hot in the forrest though and the hike to the wild beach needs having plenty of water with you. The wild beach, it‘s views, crashing waves, small waterfalls and rock pools are stunning an unforgettable experience. One negative point is a lack of enough pool beds and sun umbrellas. Overall, the Remanso Lodge is a highly recommended experience.
