We stayed in Villas Tranquilas as a group of 5 friends. The house was amazing: new, clean and very easy to spend the day and night in due to its terrace and balcony. We liked it there so much and decided to extend our stay for one more night.

We also cooked one night as the kitchen was fully equipped and definitely enjoyed some early evening chilling time in the pools. Yes it would be difficult to commute without a car there but waking up only to the sound of nothing but birds is priceless!!

I definitely recommend the place!

We stayed a the villa tranquilas for 2 months. Until the last 2 weeks the pool had been a wonderful place to spend the heat of the day. Then there was a change in help and things began to slack off.The pool was cleaned much later in the a.m.So the bugs ect. that come with the night were still waiting to swim with you. The maids where really good. Happy , pleasant people eager to help and do all they could for you.
While there, there was 2 weddings. One was of no bother. The 2nd. was organized by a owner on site. People began to arrive on a wed. Left the following mon. & tues.Noise ect. till 3 a.m. Not fun.The wedding dinner was on sat. the mess lasted till tues. in the general area around the pool and in the gazebo. No thought to the other clients residing in the villa.
Washer & drier was to be in villa---no!!!! Did use other villas machines as they were un occupied on occasion. Or were offered by some of the new friends to use theres.
The light bill had not been paid .Lights off. Stayed in an owners villa over night till all was restored. Freezer stuff lost as it had all thawed ect. in the heat fridges ect. do not stay cold.
T.V. had no working hand control. Had to get up off my butt and manually change channels and sound.
There is one tenant that played with the wireless routers and in general we never knew if it work or not.
Costs 4 - 5 bucks each time a cab was taken to Quepos and 4-5 bucks back.No buses to be had.
BUT all said and done the holiday was an adventure.Nice place to stay if ones content with up & downs. I did enjoy the weather. The cleanliness of villa with the wildlife so near. Nice experiance.Would I stay again? Not here.
Joy

This place has a few things going for it: good value for 2 bedrooms and a common area/kitchen; friendly native staff, nice but small pools; reasonable wifi

We were disappointed with many other issues:
-out of the way--you cannot walk anywhere. must get in your car to go out to eat, shop, beach etc.
-impossible to find in the dark! have someone take you there or you will never find it.
-no front desk or concierge. The American ladies who are so friendly before you book only want to sell you tours so they can get commisions. They are not available for routine questions. (use Paolo Gonsalves from Manuel Antonio tours-cheaper and fantastic!)
-AC only in bedrooms on second floor. bottom floor is hot and A/c supposed to drift down.
-many small things wrong with the units:leaky showers, doors that don't work, safe in room was broken as someone tried to bash into it; frequent power outages. There is a really nice super who is overworked but tries.

Went here for daughters destination wedding. did three tours; zip line, mangrove boat tour, and catamiran. The zip line was most fun but somewhat stenuous, the mangrove tour was relaxing and informative; and the catamaran was my favorite since I loved snorkeling, and being out in the ocean. Also did body surfing at playa escondida and playa dominical. the water was very warm, and the sun was intense. I bought aloe vera gel at the farmacia.
The villas were like mini nature preserves, with a troop of monkeys arriving at 6am outside my casa. Staff was very friendly, and I enjoyed the central pool area. Lots of good resturants nearby, or cook your own meals at your villa. Local people are very friendly and helpful. Suggest bring 2 credit cards as banking can be different. The only hassles with the trip were in the airports but that to be expected

We wish we could have stayed longer. We stayed in #3 and loved the location. What a HUGE villa. Two huge bedrooms with very comfortable beds. One had a balcony. Large large bathroom. Fully airconditioned in the upstairs sleeping area. Huge kitchen, very modern and beautiful. Kitchen supplies were great. The pool was very large and had lots of comfy lounging chairs. The Rancho area was great, and many said that was where their internet service was the best, but we received great wifi right in our own kitchen. Superb outdoor furniture right outside our patio doors. Heard the spider monkeys roaming through. The brand new highway caused some confusion on finding the place, as the "blue sign" had been removed. So, if coming south on the beach highway, turn left towards the airport before entering Quepos, and you will find it on the right. Gated with security. The drive from Quepos to MA Park is packed with hotels, and we were frankly thrilled that our home base was not in that area, with the non-stop traffic on the road. Regarding adventures: highly recommend the Mangrove Kayak tour with Rancho, guide Franklin, which we booked through the caretaker. An easy kayak trip, going with the current , and we saw so much that we never would have seen in the covered boat mangrove tour. Be sure to ask about meals, so you don't eat and then find out that the tour includes a meal. We fully enjoyed the zip line tour booked through the caretaker - with the Tarzan swing and rappeling. Take care -- when going to Manuel Antonio Park -- do not be fooled by the fake "guides" which stop your car before you get there and offer to give you the nature tour. They are not credentialed nor do they have any knowledge. Get your tour guide when you enter the park area and are paying your fees. We loved the beaches inside the park, especially beach 2 where we were entertained by capuchin monkeys for quite a while. Wear sunscreen ! The actual town of Quepos felt crowded and rather dirty. We highly recommend Villas Tranquilas to travelers who want their own base, a lovely quieter location, lots of room, great pool, and have a car.
