This hotel is a real oasis in san jose city. Everyone is very friendly and the restaurant is great, wrt both the setting & the food. Room was nice though a bit old fashioned. Location is good: it's just a 10min walk to the city center.

We loved the restaurant - amazing food. It was our first dinner in CR so we could try some nice typical food - I liked the soups as the starter. You have to try their exotic combination in different flavour! I would definately love them making a cooking course during our stay :-)
I had also a facial treatment - amazing one and a great back massage - would love to come back!

We stayed here on the first and last nights of our trip to Costa Rica. It is twenty minutes from the airport, so convenient for late night arrival and early morning departures.

This was our anniversary trip and I had mentioned this when booking and upon arrival, there was a fruit tray and a note wishing us a happy anniversary; it was a nice touch. When you arrive at reception, they great you with a "welcome drink" which was passion fruit (with maybe another fruit mixed in?) - it was delicious.

We had booked a standard that they upgraded to a deluxe king for our first night, we had booked a deluxe king for our second stay. Both nights were spent in the same room - 23. It is a nice room with its own private garden located on the first floor in a hallway tucked away in the back. It was very quiet and relaxing. The bed was perfect - not too firm, not too soft.

San Jose is definitely a busy city, but we did not feel that the area around the hotel nor the downtown area itself was intimidating or sketchy in anyway. We live in a city, so are used to the noise, energy and fast-pace of a bustling city. We walked into downtown and had no worries about safety.

We ate breakfast and dinner here - both were excellent. The restaurant is very pretty. The cappuccino was so good, and they had decaf which was great for me. We ate dinner here as well on our last night before leaving Costa Rica and it was perfect, a really great meal. It is formal dining, so the prices reflect a nicer restaurant in a major city. They offered us an amuse bouche of english pea soup with goat cheese - it was seriously good. I could have ate a bowl of it. I had spinach salad with avocado and other things, it was fresh and good. My husband had a caprese salad he loved. I had the rabbit with wine and black cherry sauce, my husband had the pork tenderloin with tamarind and mango, both came with veg and a side of mashed potatoes - all of it was gloriously good. We had a dessert of bailey's ice cream and a cake with a raspberry coulis - so tasty. The whole meal from start to end was so good, a great anniversary celebration dinner.

The staff are so accommodating, professional and welcoming. At our return check in, they welcomed us back, the one staff member remembered us and asked how our trip had been.

Coming back to Cosat Rica (which we will do sooner rather than later) I would definitely stay here and eat here again. We really liked it.

Room Tip: Room 23 has its own little garden and is tucked away and quiet

I'm in costs rica alot...I usually pick a place to stay the night before I leave to be close to the airport. This place was great, amazing service, security, and location. Can't say one thing bad about it.

Booked based on reviews and arrived late, was disappointed that could not walk anywhere - should have checked this out in advance but this is a great oasis in an odd city. The hotel is very charming, incredibly clean, service very good and the restaurant is excellent. Try cas and blackberry juice for breakfast. Furnishings and artwork spectacular. If you have to stay in San Jose this is the spot. Thank you all.

One thing that could improve the experience would be to have suggested places to visit for guests who are unfamiliar with the city. Also, make arrangements for requested services. Otherwise just wonderful, thank you.

Room Tip: Room 10 is lovely
