Casa 69 is a hidden gem in San Jose. When we arrived in San Jose and were dropped in front of the hotel all we saw was a blue door with the number 69 on it. I thought, uh oh, what is this place. But behind that blue door is a charming hotel with some nice touches.

We stayed our first and last night in Costa Rica. We discovered on our second day that they have a shuttle that will pick you up and take you to the airport for only $20. Be sure to ask for it when you book your reservation.

The rooms are kitchsy with fun posters. There is a nice main area that you can hang out and watch TV. They also serve breakfast which we were not able to partake in because of timing.

In all a great place to stay for a really good price!

Room Tip: We stayed in both the main hotel and the one across the street. We think the room in the building ac...

I visited Costa Ricca with my partner this February and stayed 3 nights at Casa 69. The staff isgreat!! Rooms clean with great views. I especially loved being greeted by Perla and Romeo the house cats, they are such a lovely presence that adds warmth to an already welcoming and hospitable place. I highly recommend staying at Casa 69 and look froward to my next visit.

The hotel itself is really nice. There are two houses, the main house and one across the street. I have stayed in both. They are renovated houses so sometimes the bathroom feels like a closet, because maybe it was a closet at one time. The rooms are beautifully decorated. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Given the area of town though, if I were staying in San Jose for more than just a stop over, I would be less crazy about the location. That of course is not the hotels issue. The hotel's security is very good.
They will arrange for a taxi to come and pick you up to take you to the airport. Walter, the taxi driver is kind and pointed out the coffee plantation and Poas Volcano on the drive to the airport.
Breakfast of bread, jams, fruit, coffee and juice. You can also order a cooked breakfast but I did not take advantage of that.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa 69. The rooms were very clean. You have an awesome view of the City from the rooftop balcony. It is also located within walking distance of downtown.

The staff is also great. We had a walking tour of downtown and were uncertain of how to get there. So one of the hotel staff members walked us half way there, until it was a straight shot to the park.

Room Tip: Ask for on of the top rooms located next to next to the rooftop patio

I booked this place for one night a few weeks ago. Not only was the whole process seamless (from the booking emails, to the airport pickup, to check-in) but these people are genuine and want to make sure you have a good time. The room was large and clean. There was a bit of a smell from cats that another guest had posted but that came and went. If I'm back in SJ, I'll definitely be back.

I have stayed in this B&B three times while in San Jose and it is the staff that makes this place so wonderful. This B&B is located down a small back street and is very easy to miss, but don't let the surroundings fool you. Both sections of the hotel are gated and I would recommend staying in the biggest room across the street from the reception area. They offer a nice breakfast and the staff is very attentive and helpful. This place is also located near a nice museum, is less than a five minute drive to the mall, and for those who would like to socialize, there are two bars on the same street. If you must stay in San Jose, stay here.

Room Tip: The room across the street (first room to the right) from the main building. It has the most room an...
