We loved our 5 nights. The room was comfortable and we loved the deck with verandah where we sat at various times during the day. The one minute walk along the beach to the resteraunt was a great way to start and finish the day. Nick and his team could not have been more friendly or helpful and we felt more like part of the family than guests. We are already planning our return to lovely Aitutaki and without question a return to Tamanu Beach. The Thursday night show and dinner were wonderful and it may have been less professional that the bigger shows we saw in Rarotonga but it was certainly more enjoyable.

If you want an escape and don't want to feel like a tourist, this is the place. It felt like our home away from home in a corner of the world that really is paradise.

Room Tip: The rooms nearest the beach have the best view.

Thanks for your review
Casual luxury is a statement which sort of reflects our way of life here in Aitutaki.

We are blessed to live in this part of the world!

Nick

Great location on the beautiful island of Aitutaki - it needs to be as the bungalows themselves are not in great shape.
The accommodation is reasonable, but not value for money. We stayed in the 'newer' block 200 near to the reception but the bungalows need an upgrade - most of the doors and shutters need replacing, and the bathrooms are in serious need of a major revamp.
The restaurant is ok but the food is hit and miss, staff seemed friendly enough but service can be quite slow.
I think the owners of the resort need to invest back into the property to really improve the standards.

Thank you for your feedback.

We are in the process of upgrading and plan to have this completed by mid 2016. I am confident that by the time you visit again you will be pleasantly surprised.

I hope to see you again in Aitutaki,

Recently spent 9 nights at this beautiful resort. The property is located right on the beach with great snorkeling! Nick Henry (one of the owners and manager), Emma and all the other staff members went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful time. There is a restaurant on the property that served us delicious meals, BBQ night is not to be missed! Bungalows were very clean and well kept up. We prefer the smaller resorts and this fit the bill perfectly. No public transportation on Aitutaki so you will need to hire a scooter or car. This can be arranged by the resort. Excursions were billed to your room so we paid one bill at checkout. I highly recommend a visit!

My review may be a little coloured by having just spent a week on Raro at Magic Reef, which is as close to the perfect spot as it is possible to get. There was really nothing outstanding about this place. The room was tired. We were in the old (100) block, which meant going to the restaurant was a walk down the beach or the road. There was no comfortable seating in the room and a million mossies outside on the balcony. The bugscreen was broken at the edges so the flesh eaters could get in. Our room (106) was as far back from the beach as it was possible to get. Aitutaki is a beautiful place, I'm just not sure this was the optimum place to enjoy it.

Room Tip: Avoid room 106

Kia Orana and thank you for your comments.

The 100 block is our original block and is scheduled for a full upgrade commencing Jan next year.
Mosquitos are an unfortunate result of living on our small island. At Tamanu beach resort we undertake considerable effort to reduce their numbers with daily land clearing, a larvae reducing program targetting female mossies and screening of all the rooms.

106 is a garden room as advertised, our beachfront rooms are right on the beach.

Meitaki,
Nick

We spent 10 days in Tamanu Beach Resort on our vacation in the Cook Islands. Before booking, we looked around for a resort with a feeling of luxury without being pretentious and we definitely hit the jackpot with Tamanu. The bungalow (1 bedroom lagoonview) were spacious, very clean and decorated in an airy pacific island style. The staff was friendly and very helpful. On our arrival at 10 am we were told that our room would not be ready before 2 pm but were offered complementary breakfast and all the facilities to hang out on the beach (towels, shower etc) until our room as ready. After having breakfast we were however informed that they had the room ready already after all which was really great. Also the adjacent restaurant deserves a compliment, food was always great and the complementary breakfast is a great start to the day on a small island where searching for alternatives or buying groceries for breakfast might have been a bit challenging.

All in all a great experience and we are definitely happy we chose Tamanu over e.g. the Pacific Resort (where we dined twice). Just felt like it's better value for the money.

Would recommend getting a bungalow on the newer side though as this area feels airier than the older part.
