We tried something different for our birthday weekend in Homer (our birthdays are one week apart). We went with a cabin rather than a hotel room and we are psyched. It was roomy, quiet, very nice, incredible view, clean and did I mention quiet? We will stay here again, no doubt about it.

Easy to find, plenty of parking. Stayed in Bears Den. Quiet and peaceful area. Breathtaking views from the back door. Clean, comfortable room, all necessary amenities provided (fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, hair dryer, etc) Close to town. Affordable off season rates. Would definitely recommend to others

Thank you for you review. We love that our off season travelers seem to take their time enjoying the rooms and property and just soak up the beauty around them.

I stayed in the room called the Eagle's Nest on 10/1/2017. This room is above the reception office and offered a beautiful view of the bay and mountains. It is quite large and airy, with a large porch to relax on and enjoy the view. The room has a large king(?) bed and a sofa bed. There is a large flat screen tv, a kitchen table and chairs, a small full sized fridge, sink, pots, pans, dishes and cutlery, and a large gas grill, which I used. The only thing I wished they had was a cooktop or hotplate. The bathroom was very nice and the whole room was very clean and comfortable. Most of the wall facing the bay is glass, affording a beautiful view of the bay and mountains. It was very quiet except for some highway noise as the facility is right on the Sterling Hwy. It's an easy place to find if you know where it is, but easy to drive by if you're not paying attention, so I recommend using gps the first time. I very much enjoyed watching the changing weather and the mountains from this room and fully intend to return next year to spend more time here. I highly recommend Kenai Peninsula Suites. The picture is the view from the Eagles Nest but doesn't really do it justice.

Will start off with the fact that I definitely recommend this place. Stayed in the Bears Den and the room was incredible. View is amazing. I am going to go into some detail below about a couple issues we felt were glitches but it does not change my overall opinion that the place is very nice.

With that said, we had a couple glitches that the management should note or at least other travelers should be aware of.

To get to the Bears Den or the Wolfs Den rooms you go down a shared spiral staircase that is above the rooms (look at pictures from the place and it will make sense). There is a door to get into the room with the staircase that has a big sign on it - Do Not Lock This Door. Both of these rooms use this staircase. Twice we were locked out. We are unsure if it was the folks in the other room or a faulty lock but either way there is no way to get to your room without either waking the people in the other room by pounding on the door or calling the number on the office door and waiting for them to drive over from where they live at. Management - either give us a key to this door or make it a door that cannot be locked.

The second issue for us was the room cleaning. They told us on arrival that their program is that we are supposed to put a sign out to get the room cleaned. Yes - they told us. Unfortunately we forgot to hang the sign out after the first night. We remembered after the second night but the cleaners did not give us any more shampoo. They also didn't clean up any of the dishes. This is arguably one of the most expensive places to stay in Homer. We chose it because it was our 25th anniversary and we wanted to splurge for the nicest place we could find. It is not an Eco-Hotel. I personally feel that the default should be to clean the room unless we tell them no to. My advice to management - change your policy. Clean unless you are asked not to - you are a luxury place at luxury prices - provide a luxury service.

Overall we really enjoyed the Kenai Peninsula Suites and would recommend it to others.

I chose the Kenai Peninsula Suites for our visit to Homer and it is one of the best places we've ever stayed! We had a party of seven (3 generations, ages 12 - 71) and stayed in the Otter and Puffin. The Puffin was very spacious and perfect my family of 4. The Otter was perfect for my parents and sister (who slept on a sofa bed). Both lodgings were clean, well appointed, and had comfortable beds. The property provides absolutely gorgeous views overlooking the mountain and the Spit which can be enjoyed from the fire pit area, porch, BBQ, hot tub, or while playing horseshoes.

The location is perfect (about 8 minutes to the end of the Spit).

The Kenai Peninsula Suites is better than the pictures. My family found the Kenai Peninsula Suites to be extremely relaxing and one of our favorite lodgings. Absolutely recommend you stay here if you are visiting the Homer area.

Room Tip: You cannot go wrong - amazing lodging.
