We stayed two nights at The Alaska Beach House and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were originally booked in the Orca Room, which was pretty much just a room. Since we were near season's end, we were able to upgrade to the Kachemak Room, a spacious suite with ocean view. In addition to the various amenities, there was easy access to a communal sun deck on the bluff overlooking the bay and a fire pit, stocked with plenty of wood and ingredients for making s'mores.
The best location on the sight was called the Eagles (sic) Nest (so named because a family of eagles nests in trees just above) and was perched on the bluff next to the sun deck. Even with the private deck overlooking the bay, I can't imagine that it offered much more than our wonderful suite. Third and fourth in line were units respectively called the Bear's Den and Otter Room, which both afforded partial ocean views. The Orca Room is the cheapest and has no view at all.
We enjoyed watching sea otters and loons frolicking in the bay, and were amazed at the severity of the tides. If you have the inclination, you can check out the tidal pools at low tide.
If you go, we highly recommend requesting the Kachemak Room. You won't be disappointed.More
