Rooms are large and clean. The room is split into a front sitting area, with comfortable furniture and the sleeping quarters in the back. In between is a kitchenette, which has enough appliances and refrigerator space to be useful to those into their own meal prep. The bed was large and comfortable and the linens were good quality. Overall, the place is simple and a little outdated (metal keys!). Prices are a little high, but this is Alaska and I was there in high season, so it is what it is. However, the shuttle between the motel and either the airport or ferry dock was very convenient and a money saver.

Room Tip: It does not have an elevator, so if you have mobility issues, make sure you get a room on the ground...

Sketchy neighborhood and very sketchy rooms - cinder block walls, gross stained carpet, the bathroom floor had what looked like stained blood drops on the floor. I was trying to talk myself into coffee stains??? But I don't think so. Homeless people sleeping on the stairways to the external rooms. Front desk staff was rude and not helpful or engaged in the least. Sign on the office says 'we don't keep cash on the office', which says a lot about the neighborhood. When you check in you are told the hotel's '3 rules': don't smoke (or 'we have to charge you a $700 cleaning fee'), don't lose the (old fashioned) key, or 'we have to charge you $200 plus the cost of a locksmith', and 'respect the hotel and its guests'. Really? Am I in kindergarten? This all tells me a lot about the clientele. So sketchy!!

We only stayed here for the free shuttle to the ferry and onsite laundry - both were a disaster. Shuttle was not organized and took forever. Both shuttle trips were oversubscribed and they left guests stranded. Yet they had a second van in the driveway that they weren't using. If they sell their hotel as having a free shuttle, they need to staff to meet demand!!! What a bait and switch! Especially because the shuttle requires pre registration so they can't claim they don't know how many are planning to use it... inexcusable. Laundry requires an escort from the front desk from 7 am - 8 pm:: times we are out sightseeing, hello!! So we couldn't do our laundry. And the hotel is a 20 minute walk to the bar/restaurants. Pillows are the $8 polyfoam variety from Walmart that are about 100 years old and now lumpy/flat. Woke up in pain both nights. You heard every step from the folks above the room - no soundproofing, had to turn on tv to drown out the conversations around us. Carpets are NASTY!! Overall, not good value for money - dingy, gross, bad service and location. AVOID. Spend the extra $40 on a nicer hotel and another $30 for a cab to the ferry/airport: for $70, you won't be skeeved out and will be closer to why you are in downtown Juneau to begin with.

In summary, I had visions of Gordon Ramsey....

We have been in Gustavus Alaska they have one flight a day to Juneau. In order to fly to SLC the next day we had to stay overnight.
The hotel has a free shuttle and a freezer to put our fish in as we had been on a fishing trip'
This is a older hotel 3 floors and no elevator to the upper floors.
The room was clean and bed comfortable, they have no air conditioner, it was warm for Juneau weather, they provided a fan.
The hotel provided a shuttle for us back to airport at 3:30 am.
This hotel is close to downtown, across the street was a deli and liquor store, shops were a 10 minute walk.
William checked our group in and he was very helpful with our frozen fish and general information on Juneau.

The shuttle worked just perfect.
The hotel staff gave excellent service.
The rooms are very comfortable .
The location is very good, close to the dock.
Pay attention , no elevator in the property, so it is recommended to stay in level one if you have lots of luggage.

A decent budget motel. If you fancy preparing your own breakfast, there is a store nearby, otherwise head for the Cafe Next Door (and yes it is next door!) The hotel does provide a free shuttle to the airport and the ferry terminal (quite a distance, so not to be sniffed at).

We stayed here twice during our visit to Alaska, and most of the time in Juneau, we were coming and going to other places.
Therefore, the Driftwood was the perfect place to stay. Their shuttle service to both the airport and ferry terminal was exceptional and, as we discovered, Alaska isn't the easiest place to get around if you are relying on public transport or taxis. In Europe we are used to arriving somewhere, and lifting a hand to flag down a cab. This seems not to be the way in Alaska. You could die waiting for transport at both airports and ferry docks if you haven't organised it in advance.
The rooms were adequate, the water hot and the centre of town an easy walk away.
Thank you very much Driftwood, I would stay again.

Room Tip: All about the same I would guess

From the shuttle picking me up from the airport, to dining at the adjacent chinese restaurant to buying sundries at the adjacent general store, to the shuttle back to the airport, my entire visit was delightful.
There are no elevators, so if mobility is a concern make sure and reserve a ground floor room.
The rooms are small, but the housekeeping staff does a great job of keeping them clean and they are extremely nice as well.
One tip, make sure not to lose your key as the replacement cost is extremely high. I think it's $120.00 for the key and another $250 to change the locks, so heed this advice and keep that key under safe keeping during your visit to the Driftwood hotel!
