Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Come aboard the "Aleutian Ballad" crabbing vessel as seen on season 2 of the Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch". Depart Ketchikan Alaska for a 3 hour trip to catch king crab, snow crab, octopus, fish, prawns and more. This tour also features some of the best eagle viewing on the planet. Share the allure and adventure that draw fishermen to the sea. Fishing legends that have worked the Bering Sea are your guides, some you may have seen on TV. The vessel has been retrofitted for guests comfort and fun, with a "live" tank on deck to allow for closer viewing of the wondrous creatures brought on board. Guests stay warm, dry and comfortable while we sail calm and protected waters. This is the REAL ALASKA and you won't want to miss it!

“AMAZING.....THE BEST PART OF OUR TRIP!!!"”
Reviewed 12 March 2012

We booked this tour thru Carnival Cruise Lines on our Alaska Cruise in the Inner Passage. I was traveling with my husband, my 5 year old son and my mother, mid 60's. The crew, Terry, Captain Derrick and Brian and everyone was simply FANTASTIC!!! From the minute we stepped onto the boat, our attention was captivated by, not only the wildlife, but the stories, the genuine men and women aboard and their heartfelt devotion to the sea. Our son began the trip whining "three hours, that's too long" (he only wanted to go play in the heated swimming pools and hot tubs on the boat) and by the time the tour ended he was literally sobbing "three hours, that's not nearly long enough. I don't want to stay!" His favorite picture of our trip was of him holding (with no help) a HUGE Alaskan Snow Crab...He still takes that picture for Show and Tell almost a year later! LOVE LOVE LOVE this tour and believes that it is DEFINITELY worth every penny - We saw Sun Starfish, Alaskan Snow Crabs, Rock Crabs, Bald Eagles, an Octopus and other various examples of what is wild and wonderful about this geographic region!! ENJOY!!!

“Incredible Trip”
Reviewed 12 March 2012

This was the very first excursion we booked on our Alaskan cruise. 3 of the 4 in our group were Deadliest Catch fans, but everyone loved it. Crew was very friendly & welcoming, and they provided a great tour highlighting many aspects of the commercial fishing industry, not just crabbing.

If you've never seen the show, they have the Aleutian Ballad's "signature" moment playing on board. Quite a trip to be on the same vessel, watching video of the rogue wave hitting the wheelhouse, just above where you're standing. Next time I'm in Ketchikan, I'm taking this trip again!

“Tour of a lifetime!”
Reviewed 12 March 2012

Everyone was so pleasant and interesting. They were also very accomodating to young people all the way to older people and everyone gets to interact with the crabs and other sea wildlife! Can't wait to do it again!!

“Exceeded our expectations”
Reviewed 12 March 2012

This was one of the best experiences we have had in our 30 years of travelling the world.... it started out like everyone expected and then turned into wildlife spotting with whales viewed several times and the captain was more than accommodating to allow additional time for the travelers to enjoy this. The knowledge and story telling by the lads and their willingness to allow photos to be taken with them was exceptional. Keep up the good work.. and thanks for the great weather we were lucky to get one of the few warm sunny days in Ketchikan
