I enjoyed their breakfast and it was great. I went there twice on Saturday and then on Sunday. Good variety in the menu. Features sausage, bacon, and reindeer sausage. A little warning about traveling in Alaska, the food can be a little pricey because most ingredients have to be shipped in .

Recently we had a road trip in Alaska enjoying wonderful weather and decided to have dinner at this cafe. We liked the idea that it was opened 24/7 everyday. The place was not crowded. For two of us we made order of some appetizers and hamburgers. Appetizers were brought in few minutes, but hamburgers we had to wait for 45 minutes. It turned out that waitress just FORGOT our order. Though already served people who came after us. Nothing special, people asked for French fries, hamburgers, milk shakes. But 45 minutes for hamburgers? Really? It's easier and would probably be faster to buy them at store. Waiting was in vain. The most delicious out of these hamburgers was onion. Tasteless meat, artificial cheese and horrible service. Great shame. Appetizers were fatty and good for nothing. Water...... Even for free - good for nothing, it had some filthy aftertaste. We had to leave almost untouchable food and left this difficult-to-call-cafe. Poor folks who like this place. Hope one day you'll have better and delicious food. By the way, one small piece of advice for the waitress - if you forget the orders, try to make notes. It never hurts to try writing down what your guests and visitors want. Great shame.

Keeping in mind that it is not a fine dining restaurant, this cafe adjoining the Valley Hotel is otherwise a place to get a good "home cooked" meal at a reasonable price any time of the day or night. Have had very tasty food during several visits here. Service can be inconsistent (have had great service and have had average service), but never has it been bad. The decor is dated, but that actually adds to the cafe "charm." Recommend if you don't need haute cuisine and a fancy atmosphere.

A down-home morning hang-out for the locals provides a solid breakfast at good value. While I stuck with the more traditional offerings of eggs and potatoes (the hash browns with optional onions and peppers are great!), you might try their reindeer sausage. Rush hours on the weekends can get crowded, and wait staff were stretched thin. But all were pleasant and friendly. We returned 3 mornings of our 5-day stay.

My wife & I had lunch with our friend's John & his wife Lonnie Saturday May 7th 2016 @ the Open Cafe in downtown Palmer Ak. We saw a booth open at the front and sat down and Lonnie noticed while the table had been cleared of dishes it had not been wiped down plus there was food scraps on the floor. We waited for 5 minutes before we were noticed and a waitress came over to give us menus and wipe off our table. I ordered the Mushroom & Swiss burger with fritters on the side. My wife ordered a mushroom and jalapeno burger with fritters and a side salad. Now the menu mentioned there was an additional charge for the fritters (five fritters and honey butter) for $1.49 now where things get deceptive is that on the menu for appetizers 10 fritters with honey butter are $11 so you're thinking what a great deal right? Well my wife's small side salad was $4.95 as was my small (2 spoonfuls) cole slaw was the same! We've gone to other places and usually pay about $28-$35 for two burgers and sides and that is what I was thinking here but was shocked @ the $43 bill not including tip! While our burgers and fritters and salads were good they were NOT worth these prices. Our friend Lonnie had ordered two pancakes and eggs and her pancakes were Not freshly made, justt reheated as when she was cutting into them they were tough and not moist and fluffy as fresh pancakes should be. Our friend John ordered bbq ribs and he came out with the best deal as after 4pm his rib meal jumps from its $19.95 lunch price to $26 dinner price. Still he had more meat for the price than us. The food was good, service average but I would choose the Noisy Goose for the money rather than this place. It does have a great view of the Matanuska mtns and it is the Only place open 24/7 so if you are coming into town late at night or early in the morning they Will be open just be prepared to pay higher. Would I go back? Maybe but with so many other places to eat here in the MatSu valley not as likely
