A bit of drive from the city through the wadis at the end will get you to this place. It gives insight to how forts played their roles in defence and resources protection

It was a long drive from Dubai and a perfect weekend getaway

As it is high above the sea level there was wind and cooler than otherwise

The drive from Fujairah city to the castle was very good. You can take also your sedan without any problem and Google Maps helps you get there.

Do climb up the ladders to get to the top rooms.

There is nothing in there and all empty but place is maintained. No entry fee No provisions also available

one of the best forts to visit in Fujairah Emirate

20 minutes drive from the city. About half way through there is a 200-metre gravel part in the road. Do not get discouraged: it is short and you can make it with a regular sedan

It is a hidden fort: there are days when nobody is showing

the caretaker is very friendly, shows you around, takes picture with and of you

the fort is mid-sized, well maintained with great view of the surroundings

no entry fee, but pls tip the caretaker

We stayed the afternoon in this area and beyond to sunset. The access is a winding scenic road through quaint villages, and quite safe.

The sunset was quite spectacular in the November, and I was able to capture silhouettes of castle and the surrounding mountains; and as the darkness descended, the starry sky with a lighted fort.

If you decide to go earlier in the afternoon, you can enjoy hiking through the adjacent wadi and farms. Overall a very pleasant area and worth a visit.

This is fort is nice and old. Reaching there should have a good car, at least a SUV car. The drive is very good and little adventures since there is proper road to reach there.
