Being from Texas, this outdoor memorial was a bit chilly to us. We had not yet acclimated to the cold so we did not spend enough time reading as we wanted back in the warm car. It has a beautiful setting and is very close to the highway. I would like to stop again.

This visit will only take you 15 minutes or so, but is a nicely-designed monument with some interesting Alaska military history and always nice to pay tribute to veterans.

Being a veteran I found the Alaskan War Veterans Memorial to be very well presented. I thought it expressed native Alaskan war participation that we don't find in history books.

As a small group of active duty Army soldiers, we couldn't pass up the chance to pay respects to fallen and former service members who have paved the way for us currently serving. The memorial is extremely well maintained and pays a sincere and humbling tribute to Alaska's veterans. While the entire memorial is small, it certainly honors the sacrifice of the service members who served in past conflicts. The exhibits all have detailed information and background for viewers to read. The entire exhibit can be viewed in 15-30 minutes depending on how much time viewers would like for reflection. We were pleased to see that Alaska continues to go through so many lengths to honor its past veterans.
