I've spent 3 weeks at the hotel on a business trip and I've experience the following.

Bedding and Linen was clean and fresh.
Breakfast was standard and not much to choose from but the quality of the servings was great.
Room Carpets in some of the rooms are torn and dirty (Maybe because of the rainy season).
Some toilet levers are worn out and struggled some nights to flush the toilet.
Hotel Staff was friendly and helpful during the stay.
No Tea and coffee station in the rooms.
TV Channels were very limited. All the channels were snowy. Had to ask the staff everytime I want to see a different channel... Not good for the price you pay per night.
Luckily I got a cheaper rate due to the length of my stay but wont pay the full rack price.

General feel and look of the hotel was good but could also improve by playing some music during breakfast... It was dead quite the whole 3 weeks.

Regards

Room tip: Look at the room carpets before you settle in. It might disturb you.

Thank you Werner for taking the time to post a review your comments are appreciated and have been noted.

With regard to the carpets - as you know during the time of your stay here and in fact in the week prior to your arrival we experienced extremely heavy downpours and in one of the rooms that you stayed in the rain banked up and poured in under the French doors. Due to the fact that we were extremely busy over this time we only managed to completely dry out the carpet but not replace same.

The Faulty Toilet Handle we would have had it repaired so sorry that you never pointed out the inconsistency to a staff member.

TV programming - The Windermere Hotel has the standard Hotel Bouquet .

Tea/ Coffee is always available as was explained to you on your arrival - a mere call away - as your preference was to have had a tray in your room we would have gladly supplied needed to have only requested this from a staff member.

Thank you kindly once again for your comments our aim is always to strive to ensure our guests are as comfortable as possible.

Regards

Caroline and The Windermere Team

We stayed here a couple of years ago and after a long flight from the UK found it to be a little oasis of calm just minutes from the airport .

We decided to return this year for a night before heading out for a safari at Kwandwe a couple of hours to the north. Once again we were blown away by the lovely reception we received and the amazing room( their largest with a view across to the sea ). How often do you get served tea, coffee and biscuits in the courtyard before heading for the room! Shortly afterwards the weather turned very wet so we opted for a night in. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but happily made us steak/chicken sandwiches which we washed down with a chilled bottle of wine and a couple of DVD,s also delivered to our room.

For peace of mind the car was locked away overnight in the hotels private garage. All in all, another short but fantastic stay and looking forward to the breakfast before departure.

We were privileged to bid successfully on one night's accommodation at the Windermere through St Luke's Hospice charity auction. We stayed over recently and were welcomed, and spoilt with complimentary coffee on arrival (freshly made), off-street parking, and the signature HUGE room. The friendly and helpful staff are the cherry on top. Thank you Windermere, Caroline, Annalisa and colleagues.

We spent one night here in early September. The location is perfect if you want to explore Summerstrand. It is within easy walking distance of the beach, restaurants and the Boardwalk. It's also close to the airport. That said, we would advise hiring a car or asking reception to book a taxi if you want to head into the centre of PE or further afield.

As the other reviews have said, the rooms were very spacious and well furnished. The staff are very attentive, and made sure we had a pleasant stay. Breakfast was very tasty, with a good choice of dishes on the menu.

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at the Windermere Hotel in Port Elizabeth for one night in August. Due to some bad weather in the area, our flight from Johannesburg was very delayed and we did not arrive at the hotel until almost 22:00. In spite of the late arrival, we were greeted warmly and offered some chicken soup from the kitchen that had closed hours before. The rooms are huge, and the beds extremely comfortable. Our breakfast the next morning was excellent, and I cannot recommend the windermere Hotel highly enough. It is truly a jewel in Port Elizabeth!!!

Thank you kindly for taking the time to post such a favourable review - flight delays are most inconvenient and extremely tiring when lat e in the day so we are very happy that we managed to make this time a little less stressful and little more enjoyable for you all and that you didn't leave Port Elizabethwith negative thoughts!!
Thank you once again,
Kind regards
