Arrived slightly late for the exhibition. I was not aware that the Museum closes at 16:00 on a Sunday, but the bit that I did see was great.

A beautiful building in a lovely park in the outskirts of Bloemfontein. The art gallery wasn’t as big as I’d imagined, but I’m probably comparing it to British art galleries in size which is a bit unfair. I liked the art on display - a really interesting mix of old and new and very well displayed, I thought.

Be warned that the Terrace restaurant is currently closed for a refurbishment. However, the gallery is open and free to enter. In the back garden, there are various sculptures dotted around. We particularly enjoyed the flock of sheep! All in all, a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. Kids will love the frog slide in the front gardens!

We had a quick visit with our teenage son, who enjoyed the art on display. Unfortunately the Terrace restaurant was closed and we were looking forward to having lunch there, as we were told that the food was good. Maybe next time.

The permanent art exhibition on its own is worth the visit, but always interesting other exhibitions. The sculpture garden offer peaceful surrounding to relax with friends and family. Short hikes available and just lots of interesting aspects to explore.
