This evening when asked what I felt like for dinner, my response was 'sushi'. Given that there was a vegetarian in our group it was decided that Mezepoli was the place to go, and a perfect choice it was.
Having booked to sit in the covered outside area, we were perfectly warm in spite of the cool Johannesburg night air. Kelvin/Tendayi was our attentive waitron, always close by, but never intrusive.
We started with two sushi platters, one vegetarian and one not, and these were exceptionally tasty. Having been given time to 'digest' our starters we moved on to our mains. Between the bocconcini, haloumi, spanakopita, jalapeños, calamari with feta and prosciutto everyone was thoroughly content.
Having enjoyed our tanqueray and pimms drinks we felt dessert would be a bridge too far and we declined another look at the menu. The kitchen however felt that this was not to be and provided a complimentary plate of slices of sweet orange. We were reluctant to leave our table and did so with much regret.
A very special evening indeed, and given how much we had enjoyed, liquid and otherwise, the cost of about R350 per person was very reasonable.
We will be back.
