We arrived at the Johannesburg Airport after a 13 hour flight from Sydney. We were told that it was a short walk to the free bus terminal, It wasn't a short walk and it was only after a kind Christian Gentleman escorted us to the free Buss terminal that we were informed that we had just missed the bus and it would be about another 20 minutes before another one arrived.
When it did arrive, the trip to the Hotel complex, ( there are three or four hotels within this compound we were the last to be dropped off. It got better at this point. The lobby area was large, well lit and with plenty of smiling staff wanting to assist us. Check in was a breeze, we were then escorted to our rather spacious and well appointed room. Could not fault the inclusions and the bed was so comfortable we slept that night. The next morning we left our carry on bags in their security room as we were returning in 10 days time. The staff were friendly, courteous, but at the same time very professional. the only complaint I have is that upon our return to the hotel after 10 days in Kenya, we picked up our overnight bags and went to check in and were told we had been upgraded but that the upgrade was at another hotel in the complex. We then had to wait about 10 minutes for another bus to come along and take us to the upgraded room in the Three Kings Hotel within the complex. Got there, checked in and was taken to a smaller room that before. Upgrade it was not and when I asked why we had been moved, I was informed that the other hotel had double booked out room as there was a convention being held there. Once again the room was clean, tidy but smaller than what we had paid for. Upgrade it was not.

Room Tip: It doesn't matter if you are flying in from overseas, all you really need is a clean and tidy room, and a comfortable bed.

We had such a good time at the Mondior when we first arrived in South Africa, we booked another night at the end of our trip. Very affordable, with lovely amenities and a breakfast buffet that was outstanding. They accommodated our shuttle schedules, allowed us to check in early and leave late, and then there was the adjacent properties that provided entertainment while we waited for our flight. Really close to the airport, so it was reassuring to know traffic wouldn't hang us up, plus our tour guides had no problem locating and picking us up for the excursions we had booked.
We never figured out where the pool was, and be warned, there are 3 hotels at this location so make sure you know which one you've booked.

Clean and good ambience. Friendly staff and good breakfast menu. Convenient hotel pick up and drop off for free. They even packed a breakfast bag for me when I had to leave at 5 A.M. for a safari trip.

We reached Johannesburg from cape town around 7:00 pm and this hotel is just 7 mins drove from the airport. The room is small compares to other hotels that we have stayed on this tour, and looks old and needs some facelift!

My husband and I stayed here for one night as we had a layover between flights. It was easy to get to using the free shuttlebus from the airport. As there was a slight issue with our booking, we received a complimentary upgrade to an executive suite, which was lovely! The staff were great and there are loads of restaurants in the complex, so plenty of choice for dinner. Breakfast was also good, with a large selection.
