My Husband took me to this place on my birthday, I didn't know JHB had such a beauty hidden in it. We stayed in a tent, which was well furnished, fitted and clean. The staff was super friendly from the reception lady, barmen to the masseuse - we felt like we are at home. Going back home was so much of a heartache that we vowed to make this place a place we escape to on a regular basis.

Taking safety measures
Happy location, we are having a great time. Rooms are beautiful and breakfast is good. Dinner excellent and our waiter was superb. Also nice view from the rooms and the restaurant. Pleasure to be in ,,,,
A very good weekend getaway. Mainly for whoever wants to do the glamping without being far from the city.The place is big, good enough for morning walk and yea there's a pool too (tho it's kinda small). Just for suggestion; I think the lodge needs to provide more amenities like shampoo, extra towels, and maybe a kettle (for the safari tent accommodation). Well anyway, we had a great time over there, A place with smiling people around; Valentine, Basil and all the staff... Keep it up guys
I’m so disappointed. As per their website, this is supposed to be a tranquil and peaceful environment in Ruimsig. The guest house is right next to Zandspruit actually. Upon arriving, we were welcomed by so much noise from day visitors, we couldn’t hear each other talk. Our room was also disappointing. The rooms advertised on the website had beautiful views, ours looked out onto a busy road. We complained about the noise as our room was right below the restaurant, yet the day visitors took preference and nothing was done to control the screaming and shouting. We ordered cocktails, R100 a pop, they were disgusting and there was barely any alcohol in them. Eventually we decided to leave and when the owner came to speak to us, he was rude and condescending. Laughed in our faces and accused us of being racist. We had already paid for our dinner up front , which we never ate. They agreed to refund us half the money for the food, but not for the room. Still waiting waiting for the money to reflect. The website pictures are deceptive. Place is run down and they clearly make more money off drinking day visitors. Avoid at all costs.
We didn't know anything about this place, but would go back in a heartbeat. We stayed in one of the tents, but don't let the word "tent" fool you. Yes it does have canvas walls, but you are on a wood foundation, complete with shower and toilet facilities. They also provide chalets if the "tent" thing is to adventurous for you. The grounds are beautiful and landscaped very well, and the staff is very attentive. Oh, and the food is very good as well. We recommend the Porterhouse Steak for 2. Great find, give it a shot!
5/5 for friendliness and cleanliness! Need a coffee station of sorts in the tents. Had to ask for an additional towel as we were only given one small towel. Also very noisy environment as there was drumming from across the road, and the noise from the pool area and other tents was very loud. Booked a spa session, treatments was good but beautician arrived 25 minutes late, and there was only one available although we were told we could have our treatments together. Beautician made the best of the situation.
