Location is excellent; My Room was clean and well made. I need to highlight the fact that the bassin in the bathroom was smelling not good; it needs to be treated with proper detergent to stop odours.
People at both Reception desk and Concierge desk was really helpfull.
Service was also good except on Monday, 05/03/2017, we waited my partners and myself for long to be assisted with menus.

the door to the room was not closing nicely and it made a lot of banging noise when closing. the risk was also that it was not closing fully as the lock plate on door was hitting against the door frame. Room 803

We stayed here three years ago when the Hard Rock opened in Nelson Mandela Square because it is a two minute walk from there and the Sandton City Mall. It was great and good value. This time not so good. At check-in tried to bump us down to a lower grade room (we had pre-paid) because they were so busy. When we got to the room the bedside light switch tripped all the lights. It soon emerged that it had tripped the lights in a lot of other rooms too! We had to go out for dinner without showering because we had no lights. When we got back the lights worked - but not the bedside and no information. The toilet flush was broken to boot. I fixed that myself next morning and asked about the bedside lights. Someone came up to fix them and we left him to it. All done on our return.
Sandton is a big building site right now and the road outside the hotel is dug up. Not the hotels fault but approaching on foot is tricky and the whole point of staying here is being able to walk to the Square.
The breakfast buffet (included) is still good - probably ZAR200 elsewhere - and the room was decent. Beds and bedding comfortable and blinds keep the light out.
Staff are nice and friendly but it feels as if someone has taken their eye off the ball. Chewing gum on poolside was there the whole two days of our stay, staff who came out moved cups and glasses but didn't do much else. The pool is more of the plunge variety and 1.9 metres deep so not for little kids.
Next time we will probably go to the Protea Balalaika. This is good value at around 90 pounds sterling per night but I would probably pay extra for breakfast at the Protea next time and expect a smoother stay. Did get a late check-out when I asked because of the issues.

I enjoyed everything about this hotel starting from the person that welcome me outside the hotel to the smiling faces at breakfast. It was really cool having used some hotels in the past that were horrible

We stopped here for a quick overnight on a trip to Zimbabwe. The hotel was great, great service, great breakfast. The shopping area next door provided many features like a money changer,a multitude of different place to eat, really easy to get to.

Room tip: Great place, about 40-50 min drive to the airport.
