We are regular visitors to Timberlake, where Zucchini is located, but for some reason we’ve never visited - until today. And what a lovely visit it was!
Zucchini feels a little bit too upmarket for its surroundings, which has a distinct tie-die feel about it - you know, the communal hippy type of thing.
With that said, Zucchini’s decor is also somewhat interesting, with horse saddles making up the bar stools; and cutlery in bare frames on the walls. But it all somehow works, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
The menu, clad in lovely leather, is comprehensive, with a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner options. The style is decidedly hearty, with items such as gammon, pork belly, pesto chicken, springbok and venison featuring heavily.
There’s also a nice selection of craft beers available, as well as a reasonable wine list.
The food we received was truly excellent, and far exceeded our expectations. As residents of Wilderness, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to good food, and we’ll certainly be adding Zucchini to our list of recommended spots.
Could anything be better? Well, maybe the service was a bit hap hazard, but other than that, we had no complaints - and we’ll certainly be back for more.
