We strayed in the Thornybush Lodge and this is the game reserve it sits in.
The guides were awesome - superbly knowledgeable and got us close in the to the action without disturbing the animals. We saw all the big game and plenty of smaller (but still interesting) animals too. Great breaks for morning coffee and evening sundowners to complete the experience !

Amazing wildlife viewing! Saw the big five plus many, many more. Love the fact that there are no longer fences between the national park and the private game preserve - animals can move freely between the properties.

By far one f the better reserves in SA, good safe drivers with extensive knowledge of the wildlife, birds and trees. Enjoy

Our first safari experience was awesome having been in Thornybush! All the Big 5 are here and some other animals that one doesn't get to see everyday. It is a wonderful escape from city life and makes one appreciate nature even more, and develop a deeper respect for animals and appreciation of the dangers they are exposed to. Sunrise and sunsets are stunning. Since there is no pollution, gazing up to look at the stars is just wow! Air smells like mint. Poop doesn't smell at all. Some animal pee just smell like butter. The animals are just peaceful to look at. Of course they can get upset when they're provoked. Best to remember the rules - no standing, wear earth colors, and avoid making unnecessary noises and actions.
