Having just attended a function at this well appointed well run lodge I was amazed to read the previous commentators remarks???
The lodge is in a beautiful setting but one accepts that in a drought and mid winter one doesn't expect rolling green lawns.
The atmosphere, the hosts and the function exceeded expectations
Thank you

Stayed overnight based on trip advisor ratings and whilst owners were friendly (although at times even that felt forced), the rooms and lodge in general, were very run down. It felt cold and sparse and the showers are not of a standard you'd expect for a top rating B&B. It's not good value for money in my mind and there are better options to consider in the area....

Thank you for your Review. We think it is all about perceptions and expectations and we are sorry if we did not measure up to your standards.
To dwell on a couple of your points "although at times even that felt forced" I remember sitting with you to gone 11 watching the Euro finals and talking soccer, I could have gone to my home, we also stacked your frozen goods in our fridge, this is being good hosts.
So we thought that we were friendly and hospitable and certainly not forced. This was your perception and we apologise.
"The rooms and lodge in general were very run down". The only room s which you went into were the two bedroomed family cottage with two bathrooms, which we admit, is not a premium suite, but is clean and comfortable, the other being our dining room, entertainment area which I would say is no way run down never mind using the word "very". Again your perception. We are also in the middle of a drought so do not water our gardens and would agree due to this it does give the impression of being run down. Sorry, but we care for our environment and resources.
Finally, the bill came to R 1600.00, This was for dinner, a three course meal , full breakfast and accommodation for 4 people albeit two were children aged 10 & 8. That is not bad value for money.
At the end of the day you were our client so be assured we take your comments seriously and will contine in our efforts to improve and provide hospitality, good value etc. Something the other 53 reviews to Trip Advisor has attested to.
We wish you well and hope that you and your family enjoy many happy visits to Sabie Park.

A wonderful stop over. Quite peaceful and secluded. Big breakfast. Hosts Francis and Brian have a wealth of knowledge of the area and epitomize hospitality. Rooms are ample in comfort size and amenities. The reason we keep coming back!

We stayed at Heuglins for 3 nights in September 2015.
The accommodation is located in a secure gated estate and is private as tranquil. Each cottage is spacious, clean and very well appointed and has its own parking area. There is a detached dining room which can be enjoyed by the guests. Breakfasts can be cooked to the guest's liking. We were very well looked after by owners, Brian and Frances.
Nearby there are many tourist attractions and the Kruger Park can be accessed as a day visit excursion or Heuglins can be a convenient stop off if travelling from Johannesburg etc and the travellers would like an overnight stop before going into the Kruger Park. I would highly recommend Heuglins to anyone.

We stayed at Heuglins for 5 nights (couple with a baby) and were blown away by the hospitality of Brian and Frances who are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They honestly went out of their way to ensure that we were well taken care of. The venue is located on a safe and spacious property which features gorgeous gardens and all the facilities you could possibly need. Each cottage is separate and they are spread out so your privacy is maintained which makes it suitable for both romantic and family getaways. The breakfasts were excellent and the views of the lush vegetation and the bird noises contribute to the peaceful setting. The cottages are serviced daily and the cleaning staff were very friendly and thorough.
