We spent a fantastic 2 nights here. Our lodge was beautiful with a bath, double shower and also an outside shower. The food was excellent including breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner, as well as drinks and nibbles on the game drives. Our ranger Marcus was a brilliant driver and extremely knowledgeable about the reserve. He also had the gift of the gab and articulated everything very clearly. I could have spent all day bumping around in the truck looking at all the wonderful animals Marcus found for us - rhino, elephants, zebra, lions, leopard, giraffe, kudo, jackals and many others. The staff and management were friendly and helpful, especially when our taxi failed to turn up to take us to the airport so Paul organised for us to be taken in their own minibus.

We recently stayed at Black Rhino for three nights.

Overall it was an amazing stay. The staff are very friendly and made us feel right at home. The food was great and there wasn’t a meal that I wasn’t impressed with.

The rooms are amazing! In fact, the dining and lounge areas are a little disappointing when you compare them to the luxury of the rooms. So that may be the one area of improvement.

Game drives were good - nice and long and we saw almost everything we would have loved to. It’s probably a personal thing, but the person who took us on our game drive could have been a little more engaging.

I would definitely recommend this lodge to both local and international visitors.

Family suites are well appointed - private patio looking onto/into the bush. Only 2 chairs on patio although we had our daughter with us (not a train smash as we used the dressing table chair).
Coffee/tea making facilities in unit with a bar fridge.
Small water bottles provided for drinking.
Out door shower a hit - nothing to put your clothes onto so they do get wet - we remedied this by opening the bathroom window & using the window sill.
Large bathroom inside (double shower) with a separate toilet.
Very big bed (all 3 of us slept in it although they did provide a single for my daughter).
Plenty of cupboard space to unpack. Extra blankets provided.
TV with limited channels (who wants to watch tv anyway).
FOOD:
I put on 3kgs over 3 days. Breakfast is served after your game drive and is a full buffet - delicious with loads of choices - the baby croissants were amazing.
Lunch: as above
High tea: delicious little savoury and sweet treats to fill up on prior to your sunset drive.
Dinner: as for breakfast & lunch. Delicious & the best home made bread I have tasted!
GAME DRIVES:
Our guide (Rassie) was awesome, very informative & really tried his hardest to please everyone with the sightings. He allowed my daughter to sit up front with him & be his "assistant" for the duration of our trip - teaching her many new things in the bush.
Only downside: the lodge is in the wilderness area of the Pilanesberg with a fence separating the communal farmlands making you feel a bit like you are in a park more than a reserve - your afternoon drives are within this area & morning drives in the greater Pilanesberg - it takes a good 40 minutes to get into the actual reserve - with plenty of opportunity to see game along the way.
This didn't deter from the overall game reserve feel at all.
We had lion sightings on all 3 days and plenty of elephant amongst many others.
STAFF:
from reception staff to waiters etc were amazing and really tried to assist us with everything!
OVERALL:
Lovely lodge, elephants coming to drink at the waterhole - very special.
Loved it.

We stayed here for the last three nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This was my fourth safari and I’ve never seen so much of the Big Five in every drive. Plentiful elephant, white rhino, and lion. We were also fortunate enough to see black rhino and buffalo, only missing out on Leopard.

The lodge staff were wonderful, incredibly good service and very willing to help. Our driver was good, our rooms cleaned constantly and massive with fantastic outdoor showers.

I would heavily recommend Black Rhino Lodge, you wont regret it

We stayed for 3 nights at the Black Rhino Lodge, and loved every second of it. The setting in the Pilanesberg national park is stunning, as were the rooms - it is just such special places to be! The food was great, and we always found something nice to eat. All of the waiting and reception staff were super friendly and eager to help.

However, it was the safaris that were really astonishing (see images - lions, wild dogs, cheetahs to name a few!). Our guide Marcus was so knowledgable and professional, and got us some truly incredible shots! We were constantly learning about the animals - he never missed a beat when it came to questions. It was so nice to pause for breaks for tea and biscuits (morning) or a G&T (evening). This is a must visit in South Africa - i'm just counting the days until I can go back!
