We spent two days at Sun City.

The Palace is probably the most famous hotel in South Africa. Sun City is a curious resort in the middle of nowhere, which is the main reason we wanted to see it. It is described by some as mini Las Vegas or Disney but I did not find it at all like that and was very pleasantly surprised. The service at the hotel was first rate. The architecture of the hotel was stunning.

We ate every meal at the hotel and I thought it was five-star standard. My wife was slightly less impressed with the vegetarian evening meals. The breakfast is a spectacular buffet and caters for every taste.

It was unfortunate that the main heated pool was closed for maintenance as was one of the two main restaurants. The cold weather also meant that it was too cold to take advantage of the valley of the waves pool.

The food and wine is very reasonably priced, in contrast to the hotel’s laundry service which was very expensive, (irons and ironing boards are not made available to guests).
The rooms were large and very comfortable.

The hotel arranges a free guided tour for guests every day, which lasts about half an hour and includes a visit to the 9th floor viewing tower. This provides a view across the whole of Sun City. From here the guide tells you everything you need to know about the resort. I would recommend this.

Sun City is very close to the Pilanesburg and Madikwe Game Reserves. If you are visiting these then in my view a couple of nights at the Palace provides a very interesting and enjoyable break in a safari holiday.

Very rarely in today's world people understand the meaning of hospitality and The Palace Hotel, Sun City truly lived up to it while we were there. Right from the time you step in, check-in, stay-in, dine-in, work-out and check-out you are pampered. For the kind of money you spend, you certainly dersve to be felt as the King & the Queen of the little empire created at the Sun City....!!! Looking forward to going back soon.

Excellent as usually, the only downside was that there has been a lot of "off season" maintenance going on. Most of tha waterfalls and lakes was empty and full of cleaning workers. We would be dissapointed if we did not know how the place look like in full function.

An unforgettable experience, from the time we were received to the time we left. Excellent service (concierge, porters, butler, Palace and restaurant staff). Special mention has to go to Itayi Pswarayi (head concierge) who made our stay so much more special. Room (executive suite) was exceptional. We were literally treated like royalty throughout our stay.

Room Tip: Executive suite...enough said

I absolutely agree with Eatlovepraylplay. This hotel is one of the greatest places for everyone or age to stay in South Africa. Do not agree at all its like Disneyland type place.

Stayed in this Place hotel for 3 nights last year. We were lucky, got upgraded to a President Suite for the first 2 nights and had spent a great relaxing break from our South African adventure trip. Size of the suite was enormous, with the spacious veranda facing the view of Lost City. Woow, mind you we did feel like living in a Palace. Staffs are extremely friendly and services are excellent. We were eating out every night so did not try any of the restaurant here. Breakfast buffet in the palace was exceptional. The water falls and pools, walking paths around the palace are simply stunning. The architecture, lobby-ceiling, decorations in the lobby and the whole buildings is just fantastic.

Should visit at least once if you travel to South Africa.
