Went here for late lunch. It was completely empty by then so we didn't have to wait for service. Service was very good and fast, if a bit abrupt. We had fried tofu for starters and that was quite good. The sushi was good but, Cape Town being home to such excellent sushi restaurants, it has too much competition to be rated higher. The portions were large and the sushi rolls themselves were quite big. The "tuna" roll we ordered was cooked, actually fried tuna, unbeknown to us. The prawn roll was also fried. Gave us the impression that they tend to fry everything here.
And oh, it was very cold. Granted it was winter but a portable heater would have been nice. Perhaps we would have stayed for dessert.

The food is freshly made for each customer, so it takes time, but it is excellent. Go with friends, or take a book, and the wait won't seem so long.

We have been visiting Minato for years. They recently moved around the corner to Long Street. The brother and sister who run the place are incredibly hard working people. The sushi is of outstanding quality and much better than 99 out of 100 restaurants who serve 'supermarket' sushi. If you want something special go visit Minato. You won't be disappointed and you will keep coming back. I'll promise.

This is still the best and most creative sushi one can get in Cape Town! Prices are fair and the rolls huge and yummy!

Don't be mistaken folks! An unassuming restaurant, with very good prices, humble chefs and sweet Thai waitress. This is the best sushi I have ever eaten (including the best in Sydney & San Fransisco). Don't miss it, had lunch twice, always fresh and beautiful. The sashimi is just incredible. Kudos guys.
