If you are looking for true hospitality, you can find it at Waterford Guesthouse.
We, a little family with a 10-month old toddler, stayed at Guinea Fowl Cottage for 30 nights in Feb/Mar 2014. The cottage has 2 spacious bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate walk-in shower, as well as a large open living/kitchen area. One side opens to the spacious garden, the other one to the big swimming pool and communal area with braai facilities. The kitchen is well equipped and the apartment is serviced from Mondays through Saturdays.
Alison and Chris are excellent hosts, warm and helpful. They even borrowed a high chair from friends so we didn't have to bring or buy one. They have very profound local knowledge and sometimes they may even share a local secret with you (at least a food-related one ;-) ). If you wish to be left alone, they are very discreet and you will hardly ever see them, but if you need recommendations or like the odd chat, they will be available for you. The braai and chat nights we had together with Alison, Chris, and guests from one of the other cottages belong to our best memories as well as Alison teaching us English-language nursery rhymes for the baby.
In the back of the garden there are two horses and a few chicken and there is a very relaxed and friendly dog. Waterford Guesthouse is recommendable for families with children, couples and single guests alike, apart from Guinea fowl cottage there are two more (smaller) units. It is situated in Constantia, a very safe community with excellent access to Cape Town, the Winelands and the Cape itself. Shops and wineries nearby.
We loved every single minute of our stay at Waterford and will never forget this first trip with our baby boy. We could not have felt more secure and at home or better looked after then with Alison and Chris and are already dreaming about returning there next year...
