This small museum in Hermanus depicts the whaling history in the old times. It contains interesting pieces, as the real skeleton of a Whale, and various other specimens and photos. There is also a video showing a blue whale swimming in the water, and a real small submarine to explore the ocean depths. It would need some more funding to be completed. When you buy the ticket, it is also valid for the photographic museum next door, with old photos tracking the history of fishermen and whalers since the 1800".

Take the time to pop into the Whale Museum because Hermanus has gotten fame from the majestic whales that rear their young in Walker Bay.

Not sure why but it felt a little disjointed. The Museums are in three locations and were still interesting.

The museum does give a lot of information about whaling in the past in south africa. With rowing boats. Interesting. Lots to see.

Given the status of Hermanus in the whale watching community this was a clear disappointment.
Not very impressive. Took nus about 20 minutes to goi through the displays.
