I have been here a couple of times and if you look at my previous review........great place. Last week we took 5 family members for dinner with mixed fortunes.

We had great starters and the beef tartare was Devine. I ordered a big Salad as main after Tartare. It was a little wilted PLUS full of Sand!!!. Offer to replace the salad I declined because I was now a bit cheesed off. I do not like waiting for a failed meal replacement whilst the show goes on and declined such offer.

From a lot of owner/manager attention, we were suddenly sort of ignored. Asked for the bill and paid and arrogantly enough got charged for the salad. It is not about the R60 or R70 rands but the mere treatment.

Luckily Knysna has such a lot to offer, that we will not be deprived of good food

The place was quaint and cosy, with a changing menu written on boards in chalk. The food was delicious, made with fresh and healthy ingredients, catering for vegetarians and meat lovers. The hostess was very welcoming and friendly, spending time and advising her guests. A dining experience to remember.

It's a small restaurant where everything is fresh and local. Menu ist written on blackboards and every dish is explained by the waiter. Food is really delicious. Atmosphere cosy. We were the only tourists, although is was fully booked .

We stayed in Knysna for one night and went to The Olive Tree for dinner. It was so tasty and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. We shared the babotie spring roll for a starter and then had the steak and chicken pasta for mains. We then shared the cheesecake for dessert. The food was gorgeous and we both agreed that it was one of the best meals we had on our trip to South Africa. The staff are friendly and Ellen is so welcoming. Enjoy!

Me and my wife spent a couple of days in Knysna and wanted a place to have our last donner before moving on. The Olive Tree was a nice finding, with great food (nothing fancy) and warm reception fron the hostess that toroughly explained the menu.
