We eceived a warm welcome upon arrival. Lovely location on the river side. We stayed in 2 adjoining luxury river view rooms and they were stunning rooms! Beautiful canopies over the large and very comfortable beds. Gorgeous bathrooms that were huge too and walk in showers. Very luxurious accommodation. Delicious breakfast and quite a good dinner too. Wish we could have stayed longer but we only used De Zeekoe as a 1 night stopover. At least 2 nights here are recommended.

We were married in Shamwari Game reserve which was unsurpassed and had a package booked with Perfect Weddings which included this accomodation and we found it disappointing in comparison with the other places we stayed. No mention was made of the fact that we were on our honeymoon on arrival. The room was full of character and very clean. There was a complementary bottle of alcohol in the room. It was pretty dusty and not inviting. May have been sherry. We had lunch on arrival. We had toasties which were rather flaccid and not hot at all. Certainly has lots of character though. Please read the sign outside the entrance with care. There are lots of warnings and disclaimers. There is a fab walk around the farm -warnings will tell you to beware of snakes. Still worth it. Loads to see. There are canoes and -I believe-bikes for hire but there were none apparent when we were there. Other have mentioned having to pre order dinner. Yes-we found this vaguely onconvenient as you're not sure what you'll fanxy for dinner at breakfast time. For the carnivore, there is a lot of ostrich. To be fair, there are Also plenty of choices for the vegetarian. Sadly, my husband found a piece of wire in his dinner. Our concern was expressed but not taken forward properly until a letter on our return to the UK. A very small discount was given on our bill but really, a piece of wire in your food should be taken much more seriously. Then again dear readers, I refer you to the big board of disclaimers at the entrance...... A very interesting place high I would have enjoyed much more, had the customer service been a little less defensive. The restaurant itself , for us, lacked atmosphere, and there were three crosses on the wall. I understand the proprietors are Christian and, while I genuinely respect their beliefs, some nice pictures of the veldt amd its wildlife may add more ambience to the setting. Should you go, the meerkat tour is highly plugged. Not cheap by any means but completely and utterly unmissable. Darling creatures and a fantastic sunrise experience.

Thanks for your honest review.
Sad that you didn't enjoy your stay on farm and that during your honeymoon!
Seeing that we are living on a farm we have to make sure all guests understands that do's and dont's - so a disclaimer notice board it a must! We prefer informing our guests with all needed information when visiting our property. Rather give visitors more information than to little.
With regards to the "wire " in your food, we explained that evening that it is not wire? We use small bamboo sticks for "garnish" and it was a little piece of that which you have mistaken for a wire.
On the other points mentioned - i will make sure to take time to make the dining area more inviting, big wildlife pictures is a great idea thanks for the tip :-)

We do hope that you will return so that we can proof we have used your advice and remarks as positive :-)

Kind regards
KRisty

arrived at the guest farm, situated in the middle of no where, surrounded by lots of Ostrich fields, Our room had a beautiful 4 poster bed, looking out onto the fields . All the staff were very friendly, the receptionists were very informative and let us know about any activities that they had available and how to book them. we had the most special waiter who memorised everyone's name, much to the amusement of my youngest child. The food was excellent, my apple pie was delicious. hopefully we will come back and stay here again, Thank you we loved staying here.

Our stay at this lovely guest farm was superb! We were warmly welcomed by staff, given a complementary coffee/sherry and soon shown to our sumptious room with its huge bed, relaxing porch, indoor fire place, massive bathroom and outdoor shower. We felt like we were in an (ostrich) palace! Our dinners - ostrich steak one night... Ostrich bobotie the next... were both delicious and the service was outstanding. There was a huge selection of warm and cold breakfast options too. De Zeekoe is only 7km from Oudtshoorn and very nicely situated for trips to surrounding tourist attractions. Not to be missed is the hair raising but spectacular trip over the Swartberg Mountains between Oudtshoorn and Prince Albert! Have your camera ready and your batteries fully charged! Complete the round trip from Prince Albert to De Rust and Meiringspoort and back to Oudtshoorn for some of the most amazing scenery you'll ever see! Thank you De Zeekoe for a lovely stay. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the hotel with our family of six after visiting an ostrich farm. The kids went mountainbiking while we took a rest and enjoyed the view.
Food in the evening was good. Breakfast was very good.
Hotel personnel were very helpful with sending some left-behind luggage to our next travel destination.
Very pleasant place to stay with good functioning team.
