We decided to stay here for 2 nights on our way to Gili islands as wanted to be closer to Padang Bai to catch the speedboat . The convenient location , Staff , restaurant , cosy pool , service , fast wi-fi , hot water , efficient air conditioning and a very good price all impressed us so much that we asked if we could stay here again on our return . Luckily they were available for 2 nights and we got to stay here again after our return from Gili . They organised airport pickup for us and were always quick and clear in their communication. Enjoyed wonderful meals and drinks in the restaurant , relaxing Balinese massage by the pool from local massage ladies and amazing seaview. Stayed in room 3 and 10A . Room 3 could do with some brighter lighting . Room 10 A upstairs was our personal favourite . The 2 sea / pool facing rooms were already booked so we couldn't get them but would be nice to stay there . Will surely come back for a longer stay next time . Till then a big thank you to the team of Pondok Bamboo for a nice , relaxing holiday . Keep up the good work !

Room tip: sea/poolview room if available.

The 4th star is for the service and the restaurant. When we arrived the room was badly illuminated, bathroom without bath curtain and no squeegee but on request the stronger lamps were put into place and we received a squeegee for the shower. After a few days we had only cold water in the shower, the problem was quickly solved by the receptionist who simply changed the batteries outside the room. The rooms are quite small but with a nice porch and definitely not quiet. In the night we still hear the noise from the street and in the morning a noise of the restaurant - and the cleaning staff but since we always had to be on time for diving, this was not a problem. Every day we received two bottles of water, fresh bed covers and towels. However the towels for the hands/face are very small. There is no shampoo/shower gel etc. The room is equipped with a kettle for boiling water with black tea bags. On the premise we saw rats and every morning there were some droppings on our porch. The view from the terrace is amazing and because of the see breeze it feels pleasant. The place has a power to attract really nice guests from over the world. We had good contact with an American family, some Australian couples and Swiss guys. The non-EU eastern Europe was not represented. The menu and quality of the food in the restaurant is great and the staff is very pleasant, always ready to go an extra mile. The excellent diving centre (Bambu Divers) situated on the premise receives own review.

I rarely write a poor review but felt the need for Pondok Bambu, as I booked over other options based on others' reviews.

We booked a family room, as I was traveling with my parents and infant daughter and wanted to be close. When we arrived, we found the road noise unbearable from the family room. No one slept. The first morning there, we worked with the reception team to change rooms for which they charged us double the cost. Throughout the week, we checked similar rooms at surrounding properties and found their prices were 20-35% above the going rate despite having no grass/garden and a near non-existent beach.

In fairness, the restaurant food was very good and breakfast included was filling and tasty each morning. At the same time, the staff were inattentive and seemed most concerned with how to increase our bill. As an example, one waitress tried to tell me I needed to pay separate for my daughter's breakfast.

We were surprised and offended during check-out when we were asked to pay for airport pickup which was advertised as free. It reinforced our belief that the staff was just out to make as much money off us as possible.

We did have a good experience with the dive center, but will review them separately.

good morning

im sorry to hear that you had this experience.
we know that in that room you can hear the traffic but its never unbearable.
so you stay with 6 people in a room for 4 people for us no problem the only problem we have after is these kind of reviews.

So you change rooms, all other rooms are 2 persons and if needed we can put (read good) 1 extra bed per room so you go for 2 rooms with in all 2 rooms an extra bed and that cost 150.000rp per extra bed plus you rent 2 rooms do the math. we did all with normal rates what is for everybody the same. but you where thinking 6 persons in a 4 persons room is nice and cheap.

you could also choose for the hotels you where looking because if they are better and even cheaper why you stay? was it because your plan for a cheap holiday include service, tax and breakfast "i quote" " food was very good and breakfast included was filling and tasty each morning" "unquote" goes up in flames and you had to pay just as much as a normal guest? i think so.

We offer free transportation go and back if you stay minimum 2 weeks, for a few days we don't drive for free to the other side of the island to pick you up.
and if its for a few days we offer transportation for a very low cost price.

Im happy that you enjoy our dive centre.

Regards

What can I say....I love coming here, as the ambience is different every time..
The sea can be rough with white peaks, or calm with small boats bobing about...
The menu is terrific, fresh food daily, great drinks and delightful friendly staff.

I always have grilled prawns with avocado and chopped tomatoes, washed down with a juice, also fresh...
