Owner description: A "Pay What You Want" tour, Buenos Aires Local Tours, is a great introduction to the past and present of Buenos Aires. You'll travel by public bus, subway and foot to see the Buenos Aires most tourists miss. Visiting Abasto, Congreso and Plaza de Mayo and it's the perfect way to get to know the city as a local does. Run by English & American expats, there are regular group "Pay What You Want" tours, and a private custom tour service is also available if you would like to visit other areas such as Recoleta (& the cemetery), La Boca or San Telmo.

I went on the “Pay What You Want” Walking and Public Transport tour with Ceri, this past November and it was a very worthwhile experience. There were only 6 of us on the tour and we met Ceri at Puerto Rico Cafe in the city center.
While we had a bite to eat Ceri gave us all sorts of useful information on how to enjoy and navigate the city. That alone was very helpful but the best was yet to come.
For the next three hours Ceri showed us some of the highlights of Buenos Aires history, architecture, culture and off the tourist route dining on foot and via the Subte. He even helped one couple to exchange money on Calla Florida.
This was worth the going of other walking tours plus a tip, which, in November of 2015, came to around $40.00. But you get to "Pay What You Want" ....

This is the second time in a year that I've done the morning microcenter tour with Ceri, and it didn't disappoint. You can expect a friendly, funny, and knowledgeable tour guide who will show you around and give you advice on money exchange, restaurants, and tango places, as well empart his knowledge on the important historical events of the country. But what you wouldn't expect from a tour guide is for him to go out of his way to help you out in a luggage situation at the airport, which is what Ceri did for us, and it was greatly appreciated. His philosophy on how to treat people was spot on and because we followed his advice to be friendly and respectful to the people we met, we found the Porteños to be very genuine and friendly. I will definitely take another tour with Ceri if I get the chance to return to BsAs some day.

We reserved via email and the rendezvous was a little cafe just off plaza de mayo.
There were only 7 of us on the tour which was a nice change from other free tours. We spent some time in the cafe talking to the guide and each other and asking questions. We then sauntered around the city taking in some cool places including a historic pharmacy, the palacio barolo and carousels. This was a tour by a local sharing what life was like in BA. It was not a rushed tick box of sight seeing. We really enjoyed this tour and the participants contributed to a fun atmosphere however the humour might not be to everyone's taste.

I had arranged for a long half day walking tour of the city and our guide Ceri Foster met us at our hotel. Ceri introduced to taxis and taxi etiquette as we caught a taxi to the La Boca neighborhood of the city. We walked around a huge soccer stadium and heard about soccer’s importance in Argentina. We walked through many kinds of neighborhoods, took a bus to San Telmo another neighborhood. We went in and out of grocery stores, liquor stores, pharmacies (they always had a green cross out front). We sat in a plaza area and had a grapefruit soda and watched a flamenco demonstration which are common around the city. We learned how and where to exchange money and walked through the city center to the park surrounded by historical buildings where we heard about the country's history. Ceri was a great guide and gave us a wonderful introduction to Buenos Aires and to Argentina.
